Ava Starr Headcanons

With an appearance from a lot of Winterghost, Yelena and Bob and a sprinkle of Ghostwalker.

All of them are based on a RP, I've got with friends, so yeah we don't just play happy ending with one pairing but like to see them fight and suffer, cause the MCU didn't traumatize us enough with that :'D

AVA

She was snapped and when she came back she found out that Bill was dying and that there was no cure to save him(HC was created before Hannah talked about her thinking that Ava survived the Snap)

After Bill's passing and the Pym's being otherwise occupied, she tried to find a cure for herself or at least a way to get more stable. That's how she met Valentina and ended up working for her.

Almost all the missions she did for S.H.I.E.L.D weren't really in the name of S.H.I.E.L.D, but Hydra was behind almost all of them, Pierce had a special interest in her powers.

While growing up in the lab prison, she was SA'ed by Hydra Agents.

In her shame room, she saw the death of her parents, but also her first kill. She was just 14 back then.

Due to her abilities, she has an extremely high metabolism, but she's also extremely sensitive to foods and often reacts with cramps, especially after eating when she has been uncontrollably phasing for too long.

She suffers from chronic pain, thanks to Valentina's help after the New Avengers were founded, but also the Pym's she can more or less manage it. On a scale from 1 to 10, she's now a days mostly at a 4.

She loves cats and after Bucky brings Alpine to the tower, she wants nothing more than have a cat on her own, even if Alpine likes her more than other people.

One of her guilty pleasures are over the top teen dramas, never been able to experience all of that and a normal first love herself, she likes those cliché movies.

She's easily overwhelmed by too many sounds and people, making her struggle a lot with her new role and ends with her often fleeing from public engagements and Valentina's parties.

Yelena and Bob are her best friends and the trio has a knack for getting in trouble.

Ava likes to scare people by just appearing before or behind them, her victims are mostly Walker and Mel.

Besides acting all annoyed by it, she secretly loves that Alexei treats her like another daughter.

She can't cook to save her life. If she's ever in charge of making food, the others have the poison control on speed dial.

If she can't sleep, she likes to sit at the roof of the Watchtower, pretending she's able to see the stars fron there or just watching the city that never sleeps beneath her.

She likes to read and spends a lot of her downtime with her nose buried in a book and avoiding social interactions, still not really used to constantly having people around that care for her.

WINTERGHOST

They met around 2008 when Ava was around 20 years old and did some missions together

Besides Bucky being controlled by Hydra back then and not remembering who he was, he became protective of Ava, leading to him attacking an agent who touched her inappropriately.

He was punished for that and wiped, with her having to watch and him having to punish her(I'm aware of the WinterWidow similarities)

Pierce still send them out together cause their combined abilities brought him even more results than sending them on their own, giving him even more power.

The part of Bucky that was still Bucky fell in love with Ava and she fell for him too.

He was her first love and she never forgot about him, even after they separated them in 2013, cause they've gotten too unpredictable and had tried to escape together.

Ava was made to believe that he was dead and that it was her fault cause she had made him a liability.

After S.H.I.E.L.D fell and she found out he was still alive, she tried to find him, but couldn't. Also, her pain got too bad to get too far away from her safe house and Bill.

A part of her still hoped she would find him again, especially after everything that happened in Vienna in the aftermath of the Sokovia Accords, but he basically vanished of the face of the earth again.

Then the Snap happened and after she got back and he teamed up with Sam, she realized that they both had chosen different paths she gave up.

Till they met again when Bucky tied them up in the abandoned gas station, she wasn't even sure if he remembered her at all. Not after having witnessed him being wiped in the past.

But after her seeing that one of his shame rooms was how Pierce forced him to torture her, she knew that he at least remembers her partly.

After everything has settled down, she tries to talk to him, with him avoiding her, driving her crazy, ending with her phasing in his room and screaming at him in the middle of the night.

This ends with him shutting her up by kissing her and finally letting out all the emotions they've both had bottled up over the years being apart.

The next morning, they wake up with Ava's head resting on his chest, his hand running through her long hair.

But it also the morning ends the way Ava doesn't want it to end. "We can't do that again, Ava.. we shouldn't have done that..." His voice is emotionless, the complete opposite from the night before, when he had told her he had missed her and needed her. "Why? We're free now, Bucky... we can be together, we don't have to fear anyone punishing us for it.." She wants to hit him with his pillow, feeling frustrated by him trying to push her away.

Still, he's determined that nothing can happen between them again. That only their past was the reason for what had happened.

And over the next months, it keeps happening over and over again, with Ava waking up more mornings in his bed than her own.

Until Bucky told her that it was a mistake and they're just trauma bonding and that they shouldn't be together. Not like that. Not with her having never really been with anyone else.

But the truth is that he thinks he doesn't deserve her and her love. Not after all the things he has done in the past, not with all the blood on his hands, not after what Hydra forced him to do to her. Even if he loves her, he thinks she deserves so much more and better.

After that, she starts to give him the cold shoulder, giving him the distance he wants, which doesn't sit well with him. Especially not with her getting closer to Walker in the process.

It takes Bucky all of his willpower not to strangle the blonde super soldier, but he gets his revenge by training Alpine to pee into Walker's shoes.

He still ends up night for night before her bedroom door, wanting nothing more than to step in and have her in his arms again, but he knows he fucked that up.

GHOSTWALKER

They get closer after Ava's relationship, if she can call it that, with Bucky ends and when John's divorce is finalized.

They spend the night emptying Alexei's stash of Vodka, both complaining to each other that love is nothing but a lie and overrated.

After that they go from constantly getting on each other's nerves, to almost being civil with each other, but still sending jabs at each other, like Walker criticizing Ava's breakfast choices. "You're choices are really questionable, Starr." – "So is your existence Walker and I still have to deal with you on a daily."

The first time they kiss is after a night out with Yelena and Kate when Ava gets overwhelmed and starts to hyperventilating and him having read once that kissing someone during a panic attack helps them regulate their breathing.

They're dynamic changes once again after this, them getting closer once again, this time on a more intimate level.

Slowly, they do fall for each other, but they still both aren't over their first loves. Him still thinking about Olivia and their son and her still thinking about Bucky.

So they decide to keep it just as a fwb situation for now, at least until they're both ready to move on from their past.

Right now this are all my and my friends HC for Ava, Winterghost and Ghostwalker.

I only put the Ava HC here and the Winterghost and Ghostwalker ones cause Ava is my character in the RP and the pairing ones with their permissions.

But their also the ones I'm going to use for the fanfiction I'm planning to write.

The elevator doors glide shut behind them but Bucky doesn’t wait.

He slams the emergency stop with one hand, grabs Ava with the other, and kisses her like he’s been starving for weeks and she’s the only thing that can keep him alive.

Her back hits the wall with a soft thud. She gasps, but it dies in his mouth as he crushes her against his chsst. His hand curl tight around her waist, pulling her in like he’s afraid she might vanish. His lips are rough, urgent, almost frantic when he realizes she could. There’s no preamble, no teasing, just need.

“James-” she tries, breathless between kisses.

He cuts her off with another one, deeper this time, almost punishing. “I couldn’t wait anymore,” he growls, wrecked by the emotions rolling in him. “I’ve been trying to keep it together. Around them, around you, but every time you smile at me like you don’t know what you’re doing-"

She grins against his mouth, wicked and breathless. “Oh, I definitely know what I’m doing.”

He growls low in his throat, dragging his mouth down to her jaw, then to the pulse at her neck. She arches into him, her hands sliding under his shirt as her fingers splay over muscle and scars like she wants to memorize the map of him.

The elevator is still, the world faded away. All that exists is her mouth on his and her body against his. Neither of them acknowledge the camera in the corner.

“You stopped the elevator,” she whispers, breath hitching as his hand slides under her shirt and traces the lines of her ribs.

“Yeah,” he mutters against her throat. “I’ll deal with the footage later.”

She lets out a low, delighted laugh that turns into a moan when he bites her shoulder gently.

“Oh, I do love when you lose control.”

He pulls back just enough to meet her gaze, his eyes blue and burning.with a promise that makes her breath hitch.

“Then you’re gonna love this next part.”
