Dark winters night

Alfred rubbed his arms as he checked the window again. Not that he was expecting it to be any different than it was an hour ago, but more to see how much worse the storm had gotten. The power had gone out long before, but he’d managed to get a fire going in the fire place, so they were at least able to stay warm.
Initially, he’d been waiting for his brother to meet him out there, but with the way the storm was, he wasn’t expecting the Canadian to show up any time soon. He did, however, find the young woman out in the storm when he’d been returning hours before with the fire wood, or at least just before the worst of it began. He was kind of glad though, who knows what could have happened to her out there.
“How are you feeling?” He offered a smile as he turned back to her.
