Below the cut, you'll find information about a supernatural creature AU for Bad Omens. I haven't started drafting yet, but I wanted to share the concept because it's been eating at me. This will be Bad Omens x OCs, and it will likely contain NSFW content, but there's none to be found in this summary/overview.
I also forgot to originally include that the divider is from strangergraphics and you can find the post containing it here!!
The Wandering House takes place in, well, a house that wanders. It moves on leg-like stilts through a forest chronically foggy and shadowed, and there are plenty of rumors among the people who live nearby on who or what occupies the House. (It's inspired by Howl's Moving Castle, because you can do that in fanfiction.)
The front door can open to one of four places. The first is the actual House's front door; the second is the door to a cabin on a beach; the third is an apartment door in a busy, bustling city; and the last one is a rather run-down house in an Appalachian town.
Folio is a selkie who doesn't have his own coat. He's not sure who took it or why; his memories start with Jolly finding him on the beach outside the cabin. Because he doesn't have his coat, he can't transform into his other form and is stuck as a "human." He's still learning the nuances of being human -- socially, that is. He gets idioms wrong occasionally, is learning to read, and hates wearing clothes. Across his back, the pattern of his coat appears on his skin in a manner similar to a tattoo.
Jolly is a siren who is simultaneously drawn to the sea and fearful of returning. He was caught by humans years ago and almost sold; though he escaped, he tends to avoid assuming his true form and swimming in the sea for too long at one time. Jolly's spent ten or so years living mostly as a "human," so he has everything down to a science. Between their similar experiences, shared (but different) connection to the sea, and a debt Jolly owes, Jolly has taken Folio under his wing. Hell, Jolly's the one who brought Folio home.
Nicholas is a natural-born witch from a family of witches. He inherited the House from his great-aunt in an odd twist of fate, and his magic is deeply intertwined with it. It has allowed him to shape the House over time, but his magic is also the only thing keeping the House together. He's known Noah for most of his life, and the two of them moved into the House together when Noah fled the family who raised him (and Nicholas, of course, went with him). Nicholas's magic is far-reaching and extremely intuitive; he does tend to mess up charms, though. He's working on it.
Noah is a necromancer. His magic is deeply intertwined with his heavier, less pleasant emotions, and he had no help from his family in learning to cope with and channel his magic as he grew up. Their reactions in general were why Noah fled upon graduating high school, and it had never been a question of if Nicholas would go with him. He frequents graveyards both to absorb the energy there but also to convene with the spirits -- he brings them meals to share with him.
The original characters are the least fleshed-out aspect of this story, but I have names, pronouns, and basic concepts (oh, and who they're meant to end up with, as long as everyone in the story cooperates).
Amber (she/her) is a tattoo artist. She has tattooed Noah a couple of times, and she works at the same shop Nicholas is trying to get an apprenticeship at (it's late in life, but circumstances have been unusual). She's a human and more than susceptible to Jolly's siren magic, though he swears he's not going to eat her. He just enjoys the way she giggles at him. She's going to end up in a trio with Nicholas and Noah.
Benji (he/him) is the character I have the least amount of information about. I know he ends up with Folio and they meet on the beach, but he's not been exceptionally chatty. He is scared of swimming, but we'll see if he learns to overcome that.
Harlow (they/them) is a brat who gets themself into trouble quite a bit. With an immunity to magical effects, they pester supernatural creatures frequently, which is why they don't hesitate to clamber up the House and knock on the door. They can't get anyone to give them consistent answers on the inhabitants, so they're just going to figure it out themself. They end up with Jolly in a very "annoyances to lovers" arc.
If you've made it this far and are interested in being added to a tag list for just this project specifically, you can reply to this post or send me an ask! I might also make a separate tag list call for the project as I make more progress. I hope someone enjoyed.
pls tell us about untitled document (regular ship a secret way)
okay okay okay
so it's the premise that, kris and orange are the same kind of alien, right. and she's coming down to earth specifically to look for him
and its just easier to show the start of the notes bc uhhhhh it is Also in outline hell
kris and oc are the same kind of aliens
they're siblings in fact
from an alien culture with sibling relationships so normal and expected that the words for sibling and for lover are the same
here's some bits from through out it that I like so far
she lands on earth and figures, its bit here, there's so much stuff, all over, he might be lost in it
its fun she's having a good time whens the last time she had fun oh right before he left
and its too unwieldy to copy over but; she tells everyone she's an alien, they all think it's a gimmick, bc of course they do. except orange, who, for some strange mysterious reason, believes her completely
and im so head over heels for this whole Concept and story that doesn't exist yet and so gnfjfjffhfhdjd scared to put it out there but I'm doing it a little bit finally!!!!
[Image Description: an up close photograph of an in progress knitted mitten being held by a white hand. There is a bird on a branch along with some snowflakes knitted in a contrasting green color on a grey background. End ID]
I've done a few more rows since I took this. I'm about to start decreasing at the top and I'm so excited! I've mostly solved my laddering issues by adjusting my tension to be SUPER TIGHT right before the end of a needle and right at the beginning of a needle. It's a little annoying to do but it's working.
Can't wait to finish this mitten and start on the matching one. :D

First WIP Check Deadline is this Friday, Feb 10th. Please have a rough sketch and a solid idea for your piece ready by this due date (yes, you can give it to me early). A screenshot or copy of your current progress is all I need as this will help me work out the page order. When I receive it, I’ll mark the date it was received on the spreadsheet. If you have extra responsibilities like cover or content, please at least have a solid idea for them, if not a sketch. I will be giving feedback (mostly encouragement) on your pieces and all WIPS will be kept confidential unless you wish for feedback from fellow participating artists, in which case, I’ll make a google doc for others to annotate. Thank you very much and if I don’t have the piece by then I’ll have to pester you!
Spoilers: it was going to only be cute puppies (Vinny and Noah) playing, but Nicholas apparently thinks Ryan's really hot. I have no idea what's happening at this point.
Snippet below the cut (SFW, but still not a safe space for minors). Six sentences because a couple are short.
“No, we haven’t,” he admitted. “Noah has a lot more experience than I do with all of this, but it’s always been private for him. All of . . . this.” He gestured vaguely, like that said much of anything. He could have left it there, for politeness’s sake, but he still found himself continuing. “Have you two done this before?”
