Cinnamon?

Thank you for the Ask!cinnamon - if you had to live in a time period different than the present, which would you choose and where? I will be selfish with this and say 10-20 years in the future. Hopefully science & medicine will have some major advancements in that time and I will be alive and thriving with lungs that aren’t fighting against my own immune system and that other people like me (with PH/transplants/auto-immune illnesses) will have an easier time with just living day-to-day. If I wasn’t sick this answer might be different, but my reality is not that.

I think there's an easier answer for this: asari have anatomy compatible with human sex because there has to be a birth canal even for their own reproduction method.

So speaking of Christmas and human-centric holidays... how did the galaxy wind up syncing to an Earth calendar? In the Leviathan DLC, when everyone comes to on Mahavid, and Shepard asks what year they think it is, an asari answers 2176. This from someone who wouldn't even know that humanity has begrudgingly been given a seat at the big kids' table. It seems odd that humanity wouldn't have to accept whatever the Council races had been using to mark years.

I wonder if it isn’t a translator thing? 

They have another calendar: Galactic Standard calendar, based on the Council being founded that year. So they start counting like 0 GS. The events of Mass Effect start at 2183 with the attack on Eden Prime. Council was created 500 years before what we see as the common era. So Galactic Standard means that for them it's 2683 GS. So for the asari saying it's 2176, it's actually 2676 for her. The translator could just translate it by automatically calculating the date given - 500 years.
