World Storytelling Day 2018 video Storytellers for Peace
wise fools: enough
“today was the first family gathering i’ve been to since we broke up and my little cousin that absolutely adored you asked where you were and i had to lock myself in the bathroom and sit in the tub for a half an hour and look through a folder on my phone of pictures i took of you to feel okay again¨ AU
Eun Sun was four and really just didn’t get it.
The adults had carefully avoided the subject of Rachel. They’d avoided even mentioning marriage. Or dating. Or women. He could tell they wanted to talk about about Kim Won’s upcoming marriage, or the newest piece of gossip about their “best friend”.
Conversations were downright awkward, in fact.
It was common knowledge that he had been dumped.
Dumped.
God.
But clearly no one had thought to advise Eun Sun not to ask for Rachel.
Rachel’s shiny pink handbag had made her Eun Sun’s idol the first time they had met. That adoration had not passed.
She pulled at Young Do’s pant leg, “Oppaaaaaaa! Where’s Rachel?”
It still hurt. A lot.
Everyone had known they were dating. Everyone had known he was besotted. Everyone had known that Rachel... had left.
Coping... was difficult.
And Young Do found himself avoiding Eun Sun for the rest of the afternoon. His mother would pretend to be angry in the car home, but the worry in her eyes would never actually give way to anger. She knew all too well what it was like to abandon someone she loved. She knew all too well how much pain she herself had caused Young Do when she left. No one would really miss him while he was hiding in the bathroom...
The tub was cold and uncomfortable. But that was exactly how he felt most of the time now anyway, so there wasn’t much difference.
He flicked through the photos on his phone.
A few selfies of Myung Soo from the other day when he left his phone behind somewhere.
Some photos of a cat. He had no idea whose cat.
More photos of Myung Soo.
And then... Rachel.
There was a stabbing feeling in his gut, but it subsided as he flicked through photo after photo.
One of them together at a party.
A selfie of Rachel. She’d said she felt beautiful that day and he always needed a beautiful picture of her on his phone.
Another few of them at various parties. Some were old ones from high school, others more recent. Most from when they were just friends.
The stabbing feeling intensified again as he flicked to the next photo.
He didn’t recognize this one. She was curled up against his side, smiling. His face wasn’t in the photo, but he must have been asleep. Rachel looked so happy.
A pang.
Young Do kept going through his photos, right until the beginning of the album. That was it. That was all he had of Rachel. He began at the start again.
The stabbing feeling dulled after a while.
It almost almost felt as if she were here with him.
As if she hadn’t gone off to America.
As if she hadn’t dumped him.
She would always be here with him in the photos. That was all he had. And for now, that was enough.
Party saga, pleease!
I hate to say it, but Party Saga is on indefinite hiatus. It takes me ages to think of scenes that work with actual footage from Heirs, and then I have to come up with dialogue and make the gifs etc. It’s really time consuming, and I’ve even been neglecting Wise Fools because of the same reason. Because I’m going overseas soon, I’ve been trying to work on things that are less time consuming so that there are going to be lots of things in my queue in case I can’t or don’t post things for a while. When I have some free time once I’m there, I may start doing Party Saga + Wise Fools again, but currently they’re both as of now on indefinite hiatus.

…
The rooftop was in darkness. Rachel wondered, as she stepped through the door and into the pitch black, barely lit by the lights of shorter buildings, whether Young Do had invited all her friends.
But then, six steps from the door, the lights came on and she gasped.
Fairy lights and flowers. Everywhere. A table, two chairs, a cake. A… heart made out of flowers? Balloons… in the shape of hearts? Rachel’s eyes flicked to the centre of it all, where Young Do stood holding a bouquet of roses. Oh god. It was beautiful and magnificent and heartwarming. It was everything she would ever have wanted in her wildest dreams.
But she didn’t like him, did she?
Did she?

…
There were three people that Rachel had never imagined she would see making a confession of love.
Her mother.
Chairman Kim.
Choi Young Do.
That was the list... until the list was wrong.
No more wise fools? 😔
Wise Fools will come soon, I promise. I’ve been sick twice in the last three weeks and I’ve had a lot of stuff going on, so I haven’t been writing. But I do have things planned out in my head and if I finish all my work early today and tomorrow, I promise I’ll try to finish the next chapter.

“I’m finally free to make my own choices… but I’m sad, too. I have nothing, Young Do, nothing.” His lips curved into a sad smile, and he tugged her into a warm hug. “You have me.”
…
His arms were tight around her and for the first time since... well, a long time ago, Rachel felt safe. Everything may still have been up in the air, but she had friends, she had a life outside the one her mother had carefully build for her.
It was hard to consider that she didn’t really know Young Do. She knew him, she was friends with him, but she didn’t know him. She didn’t know very much about him at all. Did he prefer jjajangmyeon or jjamppong? Did he ever manage to find his mother?
She knew nothing.
And yet she was content in his arms.
Wise fools update soon? A long chapter, please!
I have five slides left of my Corporate Law lecture to transcribe, then some tutorial questions for the same subject, then I’ll get onto it!
I’ll do my best at making it long... but I do prefer doing shorter chapters so you get the chapters more quickly though (as I don’t post as often as I should).
