Same old song and dance. Wolf is the first to fall asleep (save for Wispspark quietly dozing outside), clinging onto Crimson's cloak. Next is Fox, who was frustratedly trying to keep themselves awake (were they scared of the dream realm? they probably were, awful question), but eventually gave into exhaustion and curled up on the floor nearby. Didn't even think of a bed or anything.
So the next obvious step would've been Crimson Wisp, right?
…No. They're still pretty wide awake, nearly as still as possible. They wish their own mind was anything BUT still, constantly looking for anything to keep their kindred's nightmares away - and they were usually pretty good at that. For example, take Fox. Fox seems to be a bright hotspot for intense nightmares, but so was Wolf. They both have their own memories rearing back and showing the worst - Fox's recently was more or less of Curse-related.
It was a self-imposed task for Crimson, to try to make their nights asleep easier. Kinder.
They didn't want to know what awaited him when they decide to sleep.
Would it be kind to them? Stars, they didn't think so. They've been through enough horrors. They still felt a scared piece of them clinging onto their adopted kin. Don't think about that right now. Bad idea. Check on Fox. Fox seems to be doing okay. That's rare, these days. It took months for their Abyss-related nightmares to quiet down.
Crimson quietly exhales, rubbing their face and violently shoving back a stray thought of biting at their claws. Just stay up a little longer. One day you'll have a chance of rest. One day. One singular, hopeful day, you'll be able to have nice kind rest.
…That sounds too optimistic, actually.
Then their mind started wandering. That rare off-chance Wispspark does fight - how would they fight? They've never seen her fight. They've seen The Moonlit Hunter fight, and in fact he was pretty good at it, keeping distance until they find an opening (or they outright charge in to get a glancing bite. Oddly enough, this seems to be a tactic Wolf had picked up on early on even without seeing them fight.) Wispspark seemed less likely to survive a frontal hit, so maybe they were more of an ambush fighter, using their speed and size to latch onto targets and bite until they needed to hide again. A nuisance of a fight, but one they'd probably use against something her size or bigger.
Hm. Moonlit also said that Wispspark was quite the expert in using their wandering flames as either intimidation or additional injury, and smaller targets were just simply struck with a pounce and bite combination. Alpine Steppe had a similar hunting method, from what they remember from asking. You could get a lot from asking Moonlit, they weren't usually one to hide details all that much unless it hurt them.
…Oh that's why they didn't talk about the sixth member until later on, you silly. It hurt them, didn't it?
And then the brain circles back to mapping routes in their mind, which effectively preoccupied most of their time being awake.
