do you have tips on handling big pulls, mechanically? i'm a newish healer (playing since april) and i was doing dusk vigil a while ago and the tank kept running ahead and grabbing more and more mobs while his hp kept falling and falling. i was chasing after him but if i stopped to cast cure he'd run out of range. if i slapped a regen or bene on him, all the hate switched to me. so he kept dying, we wiped a couple times, and i felt awful.
Yes! So depending on what healer you’re playing, you’ll either have shields or regen but the principal is the same: You need to keep as much heal/shield over time up on your tank as you can. Here’s some simple tips:
Drop your tank buff on them! Adlo, regen, or aspected bene should do. And keep those up!
YOU ARE NOW SECOND PRIORITY FOR HEALING BEYOND THE TANK. THE DPS NO LONGER MATTER IF YOU WANT TO TRULY SURVIVE THIS.
Keep any stacking buffs you can up on the tank (medica regen, whispering dawn, faerie tether etc) (AST cards too if you can!)
This is where you use any cooldowns you can to increase healing potency (like largresse or the tank’s cooldowns)
DROP YOUR AOE!!! BUBBLE THOSE FOOLS (except you AST, you might need to judge this one on a situational basis because it prevents you from casting more)
Keep casting your baby heal like physic or cure 1 unless their hp dips suddenly then use the stronger ones, always slap your free bene 2/cure 2 on them if you can!
USE LUCID DREAMING IF YOU GET BELOW 1/3 MANA DURING A BIG PULL UNLESS YOUR DPS WILL OFFER YOU A MANA SHIFT!! This will prevent you from hitting 0 mana in case shit goes CRAZY!! WHICH IT CAN ie TANK DEATH
