Baffling to me that Deltarune features a protagonist who is clearly in the midst of spiraling, shares half a room with their accomplished and over hyped adoptive brother while their side is barren, and literally rips out their heart and tosses it in a cage

And fandom's takeaway is "this is a good thing for them to be doing, and in fact the best ending for the game is if they cut their heart out entirely. Yeah actually they should go back to how everyone in town remembers them where they never left the house or talked to anyone, you know how they were before now, when something became WRONG with them"
