Witcher Rec: Emhyr/Geralt
I personally was turned onto this ship because I fucking love power dynamics and goodness, the potential of theirs is complicated and delicious. Geralt is a strong boy who don’t give a flying fuck about politics - blunt, efficient, to the point. Emhyr is clever af and unused to people who aren’t afraid of him - flat-ass tactical genius. From the moment in The Witcher 3 that the man wasn’t surprised that Geralt doesn’t bow, I took a whiff of that scene and was like ‘oh yes, my brand’. That said, I don’t know enough of Emhyr’s history from the games/books beyond the events of The Witcher 3 to build on that myself.
Doesn’t mean my thirsty ass didn’t go looking for it though.
So if you’re interested in two men who are used to everyone being afraid of them suddenly being confronted with someone who isn’t afraid of them (cause they BOTH suffer that in their own way) and just competitively keeping one another on their toes, slowly loosening their guard and --- fuck it, if you like enemies to lovers, fucking read this:
I cannot even locate a place in my mind to begin praising this piece. I’ve just started going through astolat’s work, and I need to sit down, collect my thoughts, and comment properly on AO3 here soon. But for now, just let me say that this fic was a journey that hit so many wonderful, wonderful things on the checklist of enjoyable reading. It has a rich plot with twists and turns. It has so excellent and enjoyable character depth and development. It has spiciness and flavor. The dialogue and banter is *chef’s kiss* beautiful. I could rave about this for days. It honestly cemented my interest in this ship. So here we are.
If you’re at all interested in Emhyr/Geralt - here you go.
