Aiden was gone, differently from Coën, but leaving Lambert alone all the same, and now the Wild Hunt was coming for Ciri. His family was under threat. Everything good left in his life was under threat.
There was no choice to be made. He’d sooner leap from the battlements than abandon Ciri in her hour of need. No. He’d stay, and fight, and die if that’s what it took to keep her safe. Fuck destiny, and prophecies, and anyone who wanted to decide for Ciri what her future should be.

Following up last years Mererid whump with something from Emhyr's viewpoint and I am so excited to participate in Witcher Whump Week again!

Summary: After the coup, and after the bloody retribution for it, Emhyr is back on his throne. Some of the what has been done, cannot undone though, and the cracks show. Emhyr is helpless to put back to rights the things he finds most important to fix. But he is willing to try.
What pulled at him constantly was that he had let his people down. His Empire. Emhyr did not coddle himself. He was well aware he was not a good father. Nor a great husband in the time he filled that role. He had not been a good enough son to prevent the deaths of his whole family.
But he had thought himself a good Emperor.

I told myself that I would take a break from writing about my OC, Hyldegard Freda aep Ferasel but oh well
Here's the snippet and enjoy heheh
“As I was saying me wedd,” he stopped his scolding as he gazed upon his daughter whose attention was elsewhere. He follows her line of sight and comes across a multitude of trees and plant-life. In awe at the beauty of the forest, he tilts his head and is met with a canopy molded by high vegetation, the light seeping through the cracks while casting a light on them.
“You were saying something, papa?”, his daughter mutters as she whips her head to face him. The whiplash of red hair might have surprised Ferasel for a moment but he quickly recovers at the inquiring eyes. Ah, I will never get used to staring at your face — so pure for this world. I will never ever let harm’s way lay its clutches on you, he contemplates until a finger prods his side, breaking him from his stupor.
Irises of sapphire blue stare back at him, awaiting a response. Instead of responding back, he ruffles Freda’s hair to her dismay. She pushes his hand away with all strength which elicits a bark of laughter of Ferasel at her flailing. Not wanting to show his daughter the redness and fondness etched on his face, he proceeds to hug her, placing his chin on her head. Muffled shouts of let me go can be heard from beneath his chest that were accompanied by the jabs of fists.

There will be a list of characters to choose from. Geralt gets plenty of whump already which is why he won't be a subject here. Let the man have a break. He's fine to include as a secondary character though.
