witchaotics asked: some random questions about michael: did he miss anything about life prior to the apocalypse? any particular "earthly" pleasures or nah? how did he feel after the apocalypse? satisfied? fulfilled? empty?
before the apocalypse : everything. michael was never allowed to have the childhood children do, constance kept him away from other children in fears of what could happen rather than teaching him the things he did was not okay. in comfort for herself, she kept his very existence quiet aside from her close friends and the ghostly figures next door. michael never got to play with children his age, never got to have the human connection of other people in his life. one day he was a child, the next a young adult. many will say its good he skipped the puberty stage but he didn’t get to experience that, he didn’t get to experiment with his sexuality and find himself, go on a first date, celebrate his birthdays, hang out with friends -- from the moment he was able he was working.
after the apocalypse : empty. michael still hasn’t be able to fully do what he pleases with his life, everything is filtered through his father and as much as he would like to stop and throw all caution to the wind and say fuck you to his father -- whats the point now? everything is gone. a great portion of the earth and its inhabitants are gone. put on a facade of haughty attitude, know it all behavior and act like you have something to give cause it doesn’t get any better. say it does get better at some point, he now has a secret to bare for the rest of his life. should it get out, he’d once again be in the same position; his life dictated by the people around him. michael will never truly be free and he knows that. theres no satisfaction in knowing your actions killed millions, destroyed your chances of freedom let alone you chances of leading any type of normal life.
moral of this post : michael was cheated by his father, by the people around him and he fell along a path without any direction but what he’d been told. doing so caused him to lose more than he had to give.
