I think it would help for others to see it too :)Honestly you have a valid question, witches are always the ones on TV throwing bat wings and frog slime in a giant cauldron yelling something about toil and trouble (whatever toil is) and !poof! the magic happens, right?Nah, we don’t defy the laws of physics flying on brooms and opening doors with the flick of a wand. No witch ever did. But it’s fun to hype up the concept of magic with fantasy and special affects bc duh who wouldn’t want to turn off the light switch without having to get up? But I’m not a fantasy witch and that’s probably what confused you!The witch community on Tumblr is vast and diverse but I’m just following my own independent path and practicing what feels most natural to me. My whole life I’ve loved nature, animals, hoarding lots of cute jars for no apparent reason, wanting cool notebooks all the time but never really needing them, looking to heal and help others, admiring spirituality, wanting to meet fairies, etc. So I’m a witch, yes. But the path of witchcraft chose me. It’s been a part of me forever and I can feel that in my bones when I discover the reasons behind my “random” passions. I can’t cure you of heartbreak by snapping my fingers, but I can charm a necklace for you to wear so that every time it thumps against your chest your heart is mended just a bit more. I can’t summon ghouls to wreak havoc on those who cross me, but I can cast a silent spell for those who deserve praise and thanks so that they make it to their car right before the meter runs out or their next morning muffin is the best they’ve ever tasted.I can’t go against the Earth and defy logic. But I can will the world to continue on the path that leads my intentions to be true. I can send out energy into the universe and expect that energy to come back to me, with the intention I had in mind.
