in spring, she draws that first breath of life to awaken and renew her spirit
31 days of witches: day xxv, the coven of spring tidings
from the first glint of the sun after winter and the passing of imbolc fest, the coven of spring tidings awakens. they shake snowy powder from their hair and rub the sleep from their eyes, snow melting in their wake. primaveral birdsong heralds the coven’s annual arrival and they call forth their leader, persephone, as she returns to her mother, to aid them in the winter melt. sleepy and dreamlike, they dance, and fresh grass and tender shoots appear; they drift, hands trailing along bare branches and new buds appear. they take picnics in fields, bathe in streams, and breathe life anew into all. they adorn themselves with flowers, skulls of animals deceased in the winter to honour the creatures, and light veils of bright colours. offerings left by cherry trees in early spring will encourage them to usher the season quicker, to draw the warmth nearer.
