he says it with a tone so affectionate, it’s easy tosee he doesn’t mean it maliciously. sure, she’sgot a few weird habits–she’s a little out of hertime, but he’d never tease her. well…not toomuch. jason finds her slang confusing and alittle adorable, even if he has no idea what she means some of the time. and her candyfixation is a little beyond him; where does agirl that tiny put all that energy? he doubtshe’s ever seen her hyper, even with all thesugar. hazel levesque you are a mysterysometimes.

but one of the sweetest kind.

      `hazel, hazel, hazel. what do people usually say about       her? she’s quiet, and shy, and maybe a little hard to       approach? right. all of that is just inaccurate. being a       daughter of pluto was never going to be easy for her.       a-and i’ll admit, i was a little…apprehensive myself. i       don’t always have the best judgement–th-that needs       to be said. when i met her as a probatio, i worried how       things would be among the ranks for her. she’d have       an invisible ‘hey, my dad is deadly, and me being here       is practically a bad omen!’ sign over her head. but…`

he hedges, guilty faced.

      `she proved me wrong big time. as she always does.       so…uh. my opinion is that i don’t have an opinion.        not of hazel. i love the kid like she’s my own sister,       but i’m kinda done trying to judge what she is. she       can go ahead and be as she likes; i’ll love her all the       same anyway.`

        frank stared long and hard at the bruise on her neck, eyes wider than         normal, heart racing. maybe it was something normal couples did,         but he couldn’t help feeling like this was a sign he’d hurt her. maybe         that was dumb, but he couldn’t shake it. 

        her words made him feel better, though-- she’d actually enjoyed it?         she wanted more? in truth, it had given him a bit of a rush; and while         at first, her mention of nico and jason made him cringe, it was only         moments later that same thrill came back. this was a step forward         in their relationship and frank was excited. 

      ‘ um-- ’ he started, sloppily like always. ‘ i could-- that is, only if         you want to; don’t think you have to either, just cause i said it! oh         god, i swear that’s not--’ he took a deep breath. ‘can i... try again? ’
