30 Day Witchy Journal Challenge
DAY EIGHTEEN: NAME FIVE SIMPLE METHODS OF PROTECTION AND EXPLAIN THEM.
Side Note: Yes it’s been about a month since I posted, probably longer, but this questions had thrown me off and I hadn’t a clue what to write. I felt like I wasn’t a good witch if I couldn’t name FIVE ways to protect myself. Now, with some time behind me and some calmer vibes, I can jump back into this challenge (even if it’s been much longer than 30 days) and finish what I started!
Sigils to me are such a creative and beautiful form of witchcraft. This is a beautiful sigil created by @theblossomwitch which symbolizes, “I AM PROTECTED FROM ALL NEGATIVITY”. For a while, I was writing this sigil along my arms and thighs when I was going through a really stressful time.
Basil is by far the most common herb used for protection. A super simple charm is to sprinkle some basil leaves or crushed bits around your windows and door frames to prevent any ill-wishers from entering your home and space.
There are healing stones/gems/crystals that can be used for absolutely anything! My favourites for protection are amethyst and obsidian. Amethyst is commonly used for psychic abilities and psychic protection. Obsidian is a crystal that seeks to purify all the negative energies it encounters in it’s space. It also happens to be black, which leads to my next point.
Witches are usually depicted as women wearing black robes, black hats and having black cats. The deal with the colour black is that it absorbs negativity and creates a barrier between the wearer and the outside world, including all it’s emotions, intentions and energies.
If possible, I enjoy using incense whenever and wherever I can. In my home, I like to use Sandalwood incense for just about everything I do, but it strongly correlates with protection and feeling safe and secure.
