Tips on Grimoire Organization
Please note that if you are using a hard bound notebook or journal, adding in additional pages will bulk up your book, like so: (these are the exact same journals, btw)
- Envelopes. Let’s say you’re doing a section on Tarot in your Grimoire, and you want to include a few Tarot spreads, but you don’t want to waste two or three pages. Glue an envelope onto one of your pages to make a “pocket” where you can store little cards or papers with the tarot spreads written on them.
- Pockets. Similar to the envelope idea. If you have a page, or section for example, on herbal teas, you can make a pocket out of a piece of paper to keep your current favorite tea recipes in.
- Dividers, Cover Pages and Ribbons. If you’re like me and you like to have “sections” in your grimoire, you can easily make dividers by gluing a sheet of paper in your book (to make it heavier to make the sections stand out more). You can go further by turning your divider into a cover page for that section. And if you don’t like the idea doing that, you can always glue a ribbon, or a string, to the spine of your book to act as a bookmark.
- Double pages. I always had a problem with “wasting” pages in my grimoire. For example, my page on consecrating and charging. These two concepts are very similar to me, and I didn’t want two page stating the same thing. So, what I did was write out all my information on charging on a separate sheet of paper, then glued the top of that page into my grimoire. This way I could flip up the page on charging (as if it were on a clipboard) and have my page on consecrating underneath.
- Extended pages. Similar to the one above. In my Crystal section of my Grimoire, I decided to write out a chart that let me search for crystals by intention. So I drew my chart on a long sheet of paper, then folded it over (side to side) so that it fit comfortably in my book, then I just glued one side down into the book.
- Brochures. In my Elements section, I had a ton of information I wanted to write down, but I didn’t want each element to have more than two pages. So I used a piece of computer paper and folded it into a brochure (or into thirds) and glued it into the book so that the flaps would open and give me double the space to write.
- Clear Tape. There are many times where i finished a page in my grimoire only to find out there was a section that I left out. A simply way to fix this was with clear tape. I would write my forgotten bit of into on a separate piece of paper and then use clear tape to tape one side of the paper to my page. This allows me to flip the paper back and forth without covering up anything that I had written.

The ultimate symbol of femininity and harmony, the Empress is the third card in the Fool’s Journey. She has an aura of motherliness in her dress covered in pomegranates, representative of fertility.
The Empress represents all that is womanhood, harmony, grace, and sexuality. To me she comes out as caring, loving, and protective in a way that wants to keep you safe and happy. She is Mother Earth and the loving connection among the universe.
Similarly, the number Three symbolizes unity, harmony, joy, and optimism. Three is considered a holy number in many religions and cultures; even in everyday life we hear “third time’s the charm.” It can be symbolic of purity as well.
The Empress also happens to be associated with Venus, Earth, and in turn, again, femininity, abundance, sexuality, beauty, and fertility.
If read in a negative sense, The Empress may represent neglect of oneself/emotions, unhappiness in the home, which may stem from putting too much attention into others’ emotions and needs. This card wishes to share with you that you are missing something in your life, whether it be creativity, self-awareness or fulfillment. Pay attention to your emotions when the Empress shows up, you don’t want to be smothering someone or something with too much motherliness.
Actual goals right here.

The Emperor is a card that stands his ground, holds his head high and protects those around him. To most,a father figure is a comforting image, and even though I don’t see the father figure in a positive light, I am able to recognize the important parts of this card that must be taken into account during a reading.
The symbolism on this card in the Rider-Waite deck shows a man sitting upon what looks like a throne, possibly surveying his people and those around him. He wears a long white beard, instantly reminding us of the archetype of wisdom and masculinity. On his throne are four ram’s heads, which symbolize intellectualism. The bright orange colours are also said to symbolize energy, passion and excitement for the challenges that life has to offer.
The numerology of the Number 2 brings up thoughts of harmony, duality, and relationships. Accompanied by the masculinity of the emperor, we have a number that demonstrates loyalty and diplomacy.
In a reading, the Emperor to me would be a representation of provision and protection, with an awareness that a partnership or authority figure may be an important part of one’s life that they must recognize. He might also call attention to the need to impress someone or to take control of a situation. You have the power in your hands, and you are able to survey your own land, to see what might need to change.
The Magician is a card that I haven’t had a chance to look into very much, but the first few things that jump out to me when I see this card are power, control, manifestation and talent. In the Raider-Waite deck, we see a man with the infinity symbol above his head, and each of the symbols of the four suits on his worktable, all at his disposal. I genuinely don’t connect with this card very much. I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve never pulled it or interpreted it, or just because I’ve never felt powerful or in control of my life.
The Magician can represent the action that the Fool wants to initiate. Things are starting to come together behind the scenes - we can’t see what’s going on just yet, but the inner workings are starting to turn, and the Magician has all that he needs to begin. The power is there, in his hands, and around him, he only needs to make that first move.
The Number 1 represents initiating force, the beginning of the journey. Some say that the Magician and the Number 1 go hand in hand in the fact that both are hardworking and initiating new changes and actions. The Number 1 can also represent creation, as we see the Magician at his worktable, planning and plotting and getting ready to plow through to the goal, or even just creating and working for the sake of itself.
In a reading, I would interpret the Magician as a reminder to get started at whatever it is you want to start. It symbolizes the very first action, beginning, and start of new ventures. It can be said that the Magician is here to bring the manifestation of one’s desires, as the “magic” is present and ready. It is also important to warn that one cannot linger in the state of the Magician for too long, as it is possible to get lost in the act of beginning, without seeing things through, or without having a final goal in mind.

Card One - What needs to go ?
The Sun(reversed)There’s some part of your life that’s currently overrun by unhappiness. Try to find out what the source of this is, and cut it off. The new moon is a really good time to do this.
Card Two - What needs to be re-examined ?
Queen of Pentacles(reversed)Pentacles are all about your material aspect of being, I usually assume my deck is referring to things like finances and self image. Queens, when reversed, tell me about a lack of nurturing and care. Sometimes recklessness as well.
Saturday Spread ♥ It’s Sleepover Saturday! ♥ Tips
Hey! Thank you so much for this reading! I really appreciated it and I’ve shared some personal feelings about it here. 😄
I’ve been going through a lot lately (moving, breakup, mental illness flare-ups, exams, etc.) and I think it’s a good idea to review what’s been going on and to really treat this New Moon as a solid opportunity to make some important changes in my patterns and thoughts. I also agree that putting more thoughtfulness into my finances and even myself is something that I need to do more of lately.
In terms of action, tonight I’m going to be doing some personal writing and probably a ritual in order to discover what’s been the root of this bothersome aura I feel. I’m probably going to treat myself to a night in and really allow myself to question things in my life.
On a lighter note, a streaming sounds like lots of fun!
So I have a lot going on and I’ve decided that I really want to take up tarot once again. In order to study the major arcana, I’m going to be exploring each step of the Fool’s Journey in depth, adding my personal thoughts and ideas to each card reading. Join me or let me know what you think!
Anyways, the first day would be the first step of the journey - the Fool, or the 0 card. My immediate thoughts towards the Fool would be a new journey, naivety, impulsiveness, innocence, and a free-spirit.
This is the first step of a long journey for the Fool. He is just starting out, on the basis of an urge to start something new and exciting. The Fool might be compared to the primal life force that initiates a new part of life. The number 0 represents nothingness, the absence before what begins to exist.
I like how the imagery on the Raider-Waite card shows a man about to step off a cliff with a dog barking at his heels - he is young and wild and free and fails to pay caution to himself and to others. He holds his bundle loosely in his hand, ready to take on whatever comes next, and excited for new adventure.
In a reading, I would interpret this card as the possibility of a new start, or to gain a new outlook on life. It might involve creativity, travel, or simply adventure in the abstract sense. I would also caution to make sure that you are aware of your surroundings as you take up this new journey, to make sure that you are not harming yourself or others as you go. Childishness abandon is only appropriate in so many places.
