Me: *watches/reads/experiences a thing* Me: oh no how horrible/violent/inappropriate/weird *waits a couple of years* *matures* *comes back to the thing* Me: goodness sakes I love this thing. Heck yeah! Go thing! I could experience thing all day! For the rest of my life! God bless the creators of thing!

i’m getting so sick of The Fandom Cycle.

I’m not against discourse or criticism of shows at all, but it’s the way it happens. I can see it coming. It always follows the same steps:

show: *premieres* fans: ooooh new & shiny & FUN! show: *introduces some elements that are relatively progressive and/or the fandom enjoys, like certain ships* fans: *taking it way too far* THIS SHOW IS LITERALLY PERFECT AND THE BEST, MOST FLAWLESS THING THAT HAS EVER BEEN ON TV

show: *inevitably does not live up to the insanely tough standards placed on it by the fandom* some fans: *criticize flaws, express disappointment, write cool & important metas* other fans: HOW DARE THEY?? I’M QUITTING AND SENDING HATE TO EVERYONE. HOW DARE ANY OF YOU STILL ENJOY THIS SHOW? YOU ARE ALL HORRIBLE PEOPLE.

fandom: *inevitably dissolves into a clusterfuck of in-fighting, ship wars, & cliques*

I literally can't with Diggle in this episode.
