Ever since she'd found out the truth about her lineage, when Belphie had, hugged her a little too tightly, her sleep quality had started to decline. Being in close proximity with the strongest demons in Devildom did nothing to comfort her as her dreams filled with screams as a war raged on in front of her.
Once the dreams started to repeat themselves, Marcie realized they weren't just nightmares; they were memories. Lilith's memories played out in her dreams like recorded home videos.
Granted, not all of the flashbacks were terrible. She knew this, she had woken up some mornings feeling content, if not a little sad, with tear stains on her pillow but her heart feeling light. Marcie wished she could remember those dreams.
It had been a particularly rough night filled with back to back nightmares whether she closed her eyes. The alarm went off on her DDD and her arm peaked out from under the cover to dismiss the alarm. Through her groggy eyes, Marcie sent off a text, that was meant for Lucifer but ended up going to the group chat with the brothers, saying she wasn't feeling well.
Morning, I'm not going to be able to make it to my classes today but I'll get with my classmates tomorrow for any work or assignments I missed.
Setting her phone on silent, Marcie rolled over and hoped she could her at least a few hours of decent rest.

Breakfast in the House of Lamentation had been relatively normal, save for the absence of one very important person. Belphegor picked scarcely at his food, eventually sighing before handing it over to his twin. The awkwardness that grew between him and Marcie couldn't have been more evident and her absence on this morning definitely felt like it was somehow his fault.
He really wished he could actually apologize to her.
The heightened pitch of seven phones dinging at once pulled Belphie out of his thoughts and back to the reality where Lucifer began to speak.
"It seems that Marcie won't be joining us today. Depending on how bad she feels, one of us will need to stay behind to make sure she'll be fine."
Mammon, Leviathan, and Asmodeus argued amongst themselves as to who would stay behind. Satan remained silent and Beel continued to eat. Belphegor's voice was soft at first but he spoke again, loud enough to be heard through his brother's fighting.
"I'll do it."
All eyes were on him now as everything fell silent. One moment of prolonged silence turned from shock to awkwardness as they continued to stare. It was the eldest that finally broke the silence.
"Are you sure you can handle looking after her?"
"I am."
"Very well. The rest of us should be going before we're late. Keep her and this house in one piece."
That was his final word before the other six brothers left the house for their classes. Belphie sighed as he rose from his seat and made his way to Marcie's room. He knocked on the door softly and then spoke.
"Marcie, it's me. I'm coming in."
He was careful opening the door and closing it behind him so that he could make as little noise as possible. He stood near the edge of the bed where he assumed her head was from the mass covered by a blanket and whispered to her.
"You missed breakfast this morning. What's wrong?"
