Milo noticed her at the party. Of course he did. It was hard not to notice the way his air exited his lungs faster than he expected whenever she was near in recent weeks. What they were doing was amicable, and right. But, it didn't cause the sting to fully go away yet.
Really, he had two options:
1) pretend like she didn't exist and he had no idea she was here. He'd look like an asshole, but maybe he could skate by on it.
Or,
2) He could talk to her like a normal human being, be pleasant, and cross it off his list of people to make nice with.
Before Milo could decide that for himself, his feet were already taking him towards her, almost like muscle memory. Like he still couldn't exist without Mila Alcantara in his orbit.
"Hey, chicky," he said, rubbing at the back of his neck. Jesus Christ, what was wrong with him? When had he ever called her chicky? "You got a drink yet?" He asked, nodding his head back to the makeshift bar cart him and the other assistant managers had put together.
