i just don't like being called cute because it's the only compliment i've pretty much ever gotten. so any time someone tries to think of something good about me it's always "cute". never attractive (even beautiful or pretty), never smart. always cute. it feels somewhat belittling, and i'm already self-conscious as fuck about the fact that i don't look my age, so my brain manages to twist "you're cute" into "you look twelve and aren't good enough for anything that's an actual compliment".
