@withagentleheart asked ; Out of all the canon children, who would Ja'far love to take under his wing the most/which of them does he see himself in the most?
Ja’far is completely soft with the kiddos. It starts with him helping to raise the Immuchakk kids and then builds with his relationship with Masrur and the other younger generals. For this, I’m gonna focus on the main trio bc they’re the kids he has the most interactions with.
Out of the trio, I think he’d dote on Aladdin the most because Aladdin is baby the most child like and the youngest. Alibaba he’d likely offer more instruction and guidance. And with Morgiana, I think he would identify with the most in the same that he bonded with Masrur. There is also a panel when Sinbad introducing the generals in which he tells them that Ja’far will be fit to become their next teacher, it’s def just a throw away line but it would have been cool for him to serve as both an educational teacher and helping with their training. But his relationships with them are as follows;
With Aladdin, Ja’far is definitely softer. Aladdin is the youngest and the most innocent. He has no real world knowledge and Ja’far would be more than happy to indulge in his questions and teach him in that regard. He spoils him more than he probably should but it’s hard not too.
With Alibaba, Ja’far would make a good sparring partner after Sharrkan to give the trio experience fighting unconventional opponents. And while Alibaba has at least a few years of formal education, if he wants to learn more about trade, policy making and international relationships, Ja’far would be a good one to ask.
And with Morgiana, we see them interact the least. For the most part, Ja’far leaves her care to Masrur with whom she’s bonded with, thinking he’s the best one to help her heal. But Ja’far understands her background, both from his own experiences and from what he knows of Masrur. Ja’far taught Masrur to read (reluctant as Mas was to learn) and I think he would recommend that Morgiana go to Ja’far with questions, whether it’s questions about education or for more information about her household vessel. He would give advice on using her vessel since Masrur can’t activate his too often. And if she wants to learn more about how to help Alibaba as a friend and household member, Ja’far would offer to teach her to read and write. We also see Ja’far feeding Alibaba and Aladdin once they arrive in Sindria, but he definitely makes sure Morgiana is getting enough to eat and bringing her sweets. And if she ever feels self conscious about her shackle scars healing, Ja’far has cocoa butter that he’s used on his own.
Other than them, Ja’far helps with settling Umm Madaura’s pirate children when they’re brought to Sindria. (I’ve rped with him doting on Birgit). He’s also obviously very close with Hinahoho’s kids given that they’re his adopted siblings. Ja’far’s also well liked by the kids in Sindria and would be the type to have candies on him.
