witheredbones said: Eh SS14 was hideous and not one model of color. For a fashion house famous for its Le smoking, and work with models of color he really failed. At YSL he’s been more shock value, little substance. Can’t wait till he leaves YSL/goes back to menswear.
binx walton walked ss14 but yeah no excuse on the lack of models of color especially since Yves was pretty big on incorporating models of color in his shows, hedi has kind of stemmed away from the staples of YSL although he did show some elements in SS13 he's trying to rebrand to a younger demographic. The YSL woman is now the SLP It Girl, Hedi's always been infatuated with youth trends and culture, rocker chic looks so I didn't expect anything less from him in that regard. I've discussed this multiple times with people on here before but Hedi is more of an image maker than a skilled designer in the technical sense, I respect his ability to envision an entire lifestyle around his clothes and that's why he's remained so popular and sales are doing well. Plus Hedi always designed specifically with his muses in mind so a lot of the time he's designing for the specific women who will actually wear his clothes.
He's a very polarizing character I don't know anyone who's meh about him you either love him or hate him but yeah I definitely see where you're coming from and I had my gripes with his work especially with F/W 2013
and I doubt he'll leave SLP any time soon PPR loves him and he's even got the praise of Pierre Berge
