01/03/14-01/04/14 How to be a True Canadian
Over the past two days I have thought of the many things that makes one a true Canadian. I'm seventh generation Canadian (my fam jam has been here since the 1820's) so I feel like I have some expertise on the subject. After the shenanigans I took part in last night, I have made a list of the 5 things that could make one a true Canadian:
1) Go in a hot tub when it is snowing and significantly below freezing. This was accomplished last night with my partner in crime/bff Allison. We had to walk in the snow in bare feet to reach the hot tub, it was snowing out and it was approximately -17 degrees celcius. True Canadians.
2) Barbecue in the snow in the middle of winter. Canadians agree that barbecuing knows no bounds so if you crave that delicious grilled steak or chicken in the middle of the winter, true Canadians will go forth and conquer!
3) Eat 100% pure Canadian Maple Syrup after it has been poured on a fresh pile of snow and then twirled on a popcicle stick. There is nothing in this world that is more sweet or more delicious.
4) Attend at least one hockey game where you sit right against the boards and pound on them like a maniac when your team scores. Hockey is our game. It's also while viewing a hockey game that you can be a genuine asshole and it's socially acceptable :P As well, the more games you go to, the more Canadian you are.
5)Follow the Canadian way of life: be incredibly polite, apologize a lot, accept everyone for who they are and what they believe, treat others as you would like to be treated, always reach for the stars, always be modest, and always remember to have a glowing heart. Do this and you will always be a true Canadian.
