Nightwing holds Garrus in his arms, never breaking eye contact from him. "You fought hard, Bob," he smiles weakly, "I-I know that's not your real name. Human tongues aren't as talented as aliens." He pulls Garrus closer and shifts to get in a comfortable position. "You're going home, Bob, you're going back to Palaven, I know you are. You're going to return home to your people, where they will rejoice in your life. You're going to be more popular than Bieber."

Despite the pain, Garrus seemed to smile. He couldn’t die letting him think his name couldn’t be pronounced. “It’s Garrus,” he said. His voice was weak, and it was hard to even say that, but he took a moment and tried again. “Thank you.”

"Trust me, I'm a doctor."

"No you aren't" Barbara groaned from under the blankets.

"Put. The. Weapon. Down."

He got carried away. But Batman was still in control, probably all his anger and paranoia after the Court began attacking each and every member of his family pushed him to the point of getting blood in his knuckles after repeatedly punching one of the assassins right on the face, while holding a batarang in his other hand.

And then Nightwing’s voice brought him back to reality. He straightened his back and controlled his breathing, placing back his batarang right where it belonged. “I’m fine”, he said, not facing the young male. 

He was okay.

It was all right.

"No! You can't die on me now!"

"…warn the rest of the family", said Batman with an awful wound right in the stomach. He had one of his hands there to try and prevent any more bleeding, but he was tired enough in Nightwing’s arms. He swallowed, "they’re back", he said, as a string of blood came out of his lips and rolled down his chin, "…the owls…”, he murmured.

"Don't look at me like that."

He growled lowly at Nightwing’s usual jokes, with bad timing of course, and with cowl on and all, stared at his former protege. They were questioning a regular thug, looking for some answers that would take them to the origin of all those kidnappings. Batman’s stare alone was enough to silence anyone, even Nightwing (or so he trusted).

"I was only doing my job."

"Yeah, and you got hurt along the way." She grumbled as she stitched up his arm.

"About what?" Barbara asked curiously.
