there should be some airbnb options that you can do for short-ish longterm possibly, which might be safer bc you can check out reviews. also, hostels maybe?

Yeah, I'm considering Airbnb, although I've read it's technically illegal in NYC?? And it seems a tad more expensive. It might be my best bet at this point, tho. A hostel could also work, hadn't thought of that. Thanks! :-D

Re: Ferguson coverage, a number of reporters from various outlets have been detained and iirc Al Jazeera's crew was teargassed and their equipment tampered with so it might be a bit unfair to lump all U.S. media together like that?

While I am very fond of Al Jazeera, it is neither Fox News nor CNN.
