Come away...

Come away from the world says Jesus to His church. As the world suffers through the tumults and upheavals, the church seems to be caught in a maze looking for a way out. Turn your eyes away from the mountains surrounding you, look down into the guidebook the Lord has provided, you will find your way out of this dark valley if you follow the narrow but well marked path.

Do not stop to look at the fascinating spectacles around you, lest you lose your way. Don’t step away to the edge lest you slip and fall into the abyss. If your passage be in the night, seek the light of the Holy Spirit. Keep your sword sharpened and at the ready, defend yourself against any robber who would take your peace or a beast that would attack your faith. When you do battle with them, claim victory by the blood of the Lamb. Eat the bread of life to sustain yourself every step of the way. Keep your lamp burning bright with the oil of the anointing.

His Spirit will be your guide till you reach your destination, where your Lord and Master, your friend, awaits, to give you your heart’s desire, to wipe away every tear from your eyes. This journey will soon be forgotten, every stumbling painful step takes us closer and closer to our heavenly abode. There we will be forever with our Lord, the glory and majesty of His countenance we will observe, marvel and sing praises to His name forever and ever. Praise God! Amen!

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.” John 15:7. . . This is a verse that’s always captivated me...one that’s often caused me to wonder, What does it mean to abide in Jesus, in God’s Word? And does He really mean we can “ask whatever we wish” and receive it? . . I’m sure there are many different interpretations/answers, but perhaps the first question is key to answering the last. Maybe it is less of “will God really give me what I desire” and more of “what do I desire more than Jesus?” The thing is, when we are truly, faithfully abiding in Jesus, and when the Word is truly ALIVE in us...our hearts begin to change, and our desires begin to shift to the point where our greatest “wish” is to draw nearer to the heart of God, to long for what He longs for, to break for what breaks His heart.
