Wraith and Elliott had fought side by side for… A while, one could say. Early on Wraith had come off like she hated him, but now, after winning together and losing together, they had some kind of trust. Sometimes she couldn’t help but smile when he cracked a joke, hoping he’d never notice (because of course, he’d never let her live it down.)

After their most recent win, after all the press and celebrations, after they’d retreated to privacy and closed doors – Wraith was surprisingly the one to initiate it, quickly and without warning. But it’d been so long, and she couldn’t even remember if she’d ever done this. So she let Elliott take the lead, but she was a quick learner, tables turned, etc.

Afterwards, she’d simply leaned back against the bed, staring up at the ceiling. Her face was a bit flushed, and she seemed worn out, but still kept her face expressionless, and perhaps Elliott understood as he pulled her closer up against his chest, allowing her to gently nestle up against him as he planted soft kisses to her hairline - her normally messy bun down, hair ruffled a bit and out of place.

God, she was a grown woman. She’d gone through hell and back, lost her memories and made new ones. She was strong and she’d proven it. But more often then not she forgot how much she ‘hadn’t’ experienced - how much she missed.

Wraith hadn’t expected Elliott to come and climb onto her, clinging to her tightly - so she hadn’t had much time to react. She snorted, nudging him gently as she writhed under neath him. “You’re so heavy, get off!” She was clearly joking, attempting to suppress a soft, fond smile, struggling a bit to push him off before giving in to her fate as a human pillow.

“DON’T LIE TO ME,” the simulacrum didn’t have to raise his voice much for the confidence in his tone to border dangerously close to anger. “Just say you’re afraid,” he continued, pacing slowly closer while his hand folded smoothly into a BLADE. “It’s good for both of us.” No excessive duplicates of the other Legend in sight. It was just the two of them. Mirage was CORNERED, there was no way his rookie teammates were coming to help him - Revenant didn’t have a gun, and it didn’t look as if Mirage had one yet either. Only, Revenant DIDN’T NEED ONE.

His whole body was a weapon, and it gave him a distinct advantage fresh out of the dropship while other competitors scrambled for guns and supplies. It was one of his FAVORITE parts of a match: dropping and immediately finding some poor meatbag to eviscerate. On the occasion that happened to be another Legend, EVEN BETTER. Take them out of the picture early. One less obstacle between him and Champion, or better yet, KILL LEADER. That was the only title Revenant ever really cared about in these games, and the other Legends were naturally his biggest competition.

     Natalie leaned against the metallic wall of the bunker, releasing a loud huff as her shoulders fell. One hand loosely held onto her weapon while the other raised to wipe at her forehead. A mix of sweat, grime, and blood-- someone else’s-- smudged off of her complexion and onto her insulated gloves. It certainly wouldn't be enough to consider oneself spotless, but Natalie couldn't stand the amount of bacteria that had gathered on her, so any little bit of cleanliness she could get would have to do.      Her baby blues refocused as she heard her squadmate approach her and the compact pile of fallen competitors loot. She gently pushed herself from the wall and took careful steps around the boxes to close the distance between her and Elliott. When he spoke, Natalie could not help but smile. Not out of joy, but rather endearment. His concern for her was incredibly touching; it reminded her that her bonds made with the other legends weren't necessarily one sided.      "Je suis désolée, mon ami. I didn't mean to worry you by pushing ahead like that, I only wanted to stop them from getting away." Natalie replied, still sporting her soft smile. "But, um, thank you! For being concerned... It is sweet."

Ok so Mirage and Crypto — my thoughts on this pair are not a big mystery to anyone who even vaguely knows me. But most of this, especially the friendship category, is pretty self-explanatory (such as them actually being the biggest trope of Opposites Attract ever). Their dynamic is honestly pretty interesting and frankly an exception for Crypto, given that he has the tendency to self-isolate and accomplishes a great part of that by being cold, a smug smartass, and generally unwelcoming to others. But apparently, from what I can tell, he really thinks Mirage is an idiot… which lends well to him being able to be more comfortable around said idiot. Didn’t miss the few times he actually cracked a smile at Mirage various times throughout the trailer. 

They make great rivals in the Games, whether on the same squad or on enemy squads. Loved the steal killing in the trailer, I absolutely think Crypto would make it personal business to be petty and get on Mirage’s case. It amuses him that Mirage plays himself off as having extreme confidence, and he’ll go out of his way to crack that ridiculous exterior, make Mirage flustered. Because he’s a snarky smartass and finds it especially fun to bully his mum’s favourite legend. Guess in that way Mirage is a bad influence, but Mirage does definitely bring out a fun and humourous side of him that I don’t believe other Legends would? That’s a pretty impressive power.

Friendship’s a given, slowly over time. As said, it’s a really rare and special case for Crypto — though not anything particularly strong in its early stages, I don’t think, as in Crypto wouldn’t be too deeply emotionally invested (makes an active effort to avoid doing so with anyone, really) or treat Mirage as more than a very amusing buddy. I can see them having pretty good banter, bouncing ideas off each other, challenging each other to greater heights: a bit of fun and companionship in Crypto’s otherwise very solitary lifestyle. A surprise, to be sure, but a welcome one… 

Crypto would be generally less interested in anything more than that, at least for a very, very long while. He’s very walled off emotionally in that regard, though I can see him being more interested in being FWB (italicised) than having a real relationship; that can change over time, but it’d take a shit tonne of work on both sides and Crypto discovering and accepting that he has interest in Mirage in that way. Generally he keeps feelings off the table for his (and others’) safety — anything, close friendship or FWB or actual romantic relationship, would have to be kept under wraps what with the Syndicate on Crypto’s tail constantly. That and he just doesn’t feel comfortable being close to people again after losing everything and everyone he loved. Man’s got a fuck tonne of issues.

Personally not interested in establishing anything familial, and can’t see it given their canon relationship. Otherwise… they are a pair with a lot of potential…
