A dream I just had. Just to say, I woke up crying
Hogwarts! AU, DragonHeart! AU
Billy as a dragon, Steve as a wizard
It was a set responsibility to all prefects.
Every three days they had to go venture to the deepest part of the dungeons and face the creature.
And now, as the new prefect, it was Steve's turn to enter the dungeons.
At first, he didn't know what to expect.
He had mastered the charms he would need but he still felt unqualified. Both to the prefect title and the resulting task.
Taking a few deep breaths, he gripped the handle of his wand and ventured down.
The first time he saw it, he gaped.
Chains encasing the hulking body and digging into it's golden skin.
The tone suddenly reminded of the sand on a clear summer day.
Looking closer, he was surprised that there wasn't any blood that he could see, but the sight of the chains disappearing into the dragon's skin made him sick.
Doing the reinforcement spells on the chains, he paused for a moment, before casting a protective spell for it's heart.
A dragon was a powerful thing, but the chest area was the most tender and there were endless stories of dragons were slaughtered by a chest wound.
Steve might have imagined it but he thought he had seen the dragon relaxing for second.
He tried to ignore the nagging feeling of wrongness and with a soft goodbye he left.
The dragon's eyes had remained closed for the entirely of the task.
~~~~~~~~~
That was only the beginning of this weird arrangement.
Steve would go down to the dungeons in the night, do his charms and stay until midnight, talking the dragon's ear off the entire time.
He had even named it, or him, as he came to notice.
In his defense, the dragon didn't seem opposed... maybe a bit exasperated but he hasn't struggled in it's binds.
It was a strange but he felt a sense of companionship that he hadn't been able to feel with his peers.
~~~~~~~~~
He hasn't been there for two weeks...
Billy thought darkly.
Usually the little wizard would be there already, talking nonsense as he reinforced the chains after protecting his heart.
Instead, in his place there was someone else.
The new person didn't spoke at all. He just did the chains and left without a second glance.
He didn't even check if the spell was actually working.
~~~~~~~~~
It took some work.
Taking off the chains that had been lodged into his skin for years.
But he didn't care nor did he noticed the streams of blood as he ripped them off his body.
With the chains broken at his feet he set out to look for his wizard.
~~~~~~~~~
He found him in one of the bigger rooms on the left wing.
The screams of the people, teachers and students running rampant and trying to stop him and capture him again didn't deter him.
He could only see the tear stained face of his wizard as he moved his hand and with a wave casted a spell.
And he paused with a slight tang of betrayal but Steve, instead of casting spells to trap him, was actually casting spells to protect him.
More importantly, to protect his heart.
He decided at that moment that he would take his wizard away from here.
~~~~~~~~~
As his skin was golden like the sand on a beach, his eyes were the ocean.
