In response to a guy who very bluntly and tactlessly said “IWTB sucked.” “A lot of things transpired that made it...not the best movie we could have made. Part of it was budgetary, and part of it was other things, but here’s the thing. It’s hard to make a movie in The X-Files. It has to be exactly the right thing, and this was not exactly the right thing. Television is a much better frame to tell an X-Files story. It’s a 6-hour story. It’s better for us to stretch out. Like I said, there’s a lot in the show.” Here he references an earlier answer he gave where he talked about how the premise of the show allowed it to be many things -- a slasher, a thriller, a romance, a drama, etc. “It’s flexible. what was his response? I turned it off, I was embarrassed to listen!

I don’t remember what it was word for word, but he agreed it wasn’t as good as it could have been, and talked about the difficulties of translating a TV show into a movie and also the timing of it.

Wanna make sure your favorite actors never want to do a panel again? Ask them why something they were a part of sucked.
