so, before this post goes any further, i just want to firmly state that wizardhq is NOT closing. now that that’s been said, i want to talk about something.
when an rp has been open for a long time, it goes through eras. like our muses, we develop, we change with the times. one thing that hasn’t really developed since the beginning of the rp five years ago is the multimuse rule. at times its been fun being allowed to run wild with how many characters we’re allowed to write. but i think it’s starting to hold us back. i didn’t really know how to go about changing this, especially when so many of us have many beloved muses, like myself. but i had a crazy idea recently.
i’m asking if everyone with more than two characters will choose the ones they can’t live without at the moment, and drop the rest. when i say drop the rest, i don’t mean permanently. with some html work, they’ll be marked as non-playable characters on the main. when it comes to plots or threads / paras, you shouldn’t drop whatever you have with characters temporarily gone-- they’ll be back! however, they will be unfollowed. i know this is a lot and potentially scary, especially if you have put a lot of work into your characters. however, our activity has crawled to an inconsistent pace. player of the week didn’t pan out the way i had hoped, and i think the way to get more members and bring the activity back to where it was before is to focus on building back up consistent activity, without having too many characters on our plate.
activity will return to being a one week limit, and player of the week will be nixed in terms of activity. the interactive element will continue to be apart of the roleplay though, and player of the week will take on a new meaning in the roleplay in the near future as we continue to go forward with the episode. on top of that, the multiple character rule will be changing to four characters total for future members. that means if you have four graduated alumni, you can’t pick up anymore characters, or if you have four students you can’t pick up any applied-for alumni, etc. current members also won’t be able to pick up any brand new muses if you’re at the two character max and or have muses waiting in the wings to be brought back, although this will be irrelevant for most roleplayers who were already at the max anyway.
this will not affect you being able to pick back up your characters that you temporarily dropped. at the end of each month, on a roleplayer to roleplayer basis, you will be able to pick up a number of characters depending on if you weren’t on every activity check, and you weren’t skating activity by rarely posting, spam posting before the activity check, etc. remember, we will be repairing the bad activity pattern we’ve been in. (for anyone worried about their character falling behind in the episode, remember that time is irrelevant right now and they’ll have time to catch up when they’re back! you’ll also be able to resume any threads from the episode / timeframe once they are.) however, you will not be able to bring back muses after you’ve dropped them if you’re over the new four character max.
again, i know this is a lot to digest, but remember i have the best interests for the rp in mind!!! if you support my decision, please LIKE this post and then message the characters to the main that you’re keeping.
