Watching murder mysteries and thinking about writing....not quite ready yet to flesh it out. And thinking about why Gale would not want to teach - and I don't mean because he hates kids - or they irk him. And what would happen if he (unromanced) left the crown and Raphael was dead. Would it gnaw at him, worrying him like a hangnail - starting as some small notion, only to grow into this mental nuisance that he cannot leave be? The idea of that crown, of that power.

I think human-ending Gale without a partner would have a more difficult time not obsessing. Is he still Gale of Waterdeep or has he settled into Gale Dekarios? And if not: how does that look?

Im so hesitant to be unhinged about this random character but also i feel like it's my duty on earth . Something about this character touches my soul . Maybe hes a joke character or whatever but i have to break this down

Soft spoken math oriented guy slowly rises thru ranks by doing the jobs other people don't want to do. All the while, his associates are killing each other off using home-alone style mechanisms . But he ends up in a cushy position - alongside all the people who offed all their superiors to achieve their high rank.

These people are awful, bloodthirsty, self-serving, and utterly protected from any retribution as long as they don't bother the current ruling power. Because if they chose to, they could completely destabilize the country. And they're his only peers.

Due to the continuous stress he resorts to self-medicating. However this is not only enabled but pressed on him and encouraged by his colleagues . They make sure he takes his dosage, more than enough. The substance is addictive . And they just . Keep him like that. To do the finances. Forever . Kind of hellish
