@wocinmedia event: history --> padmavati
padmavati was a legendary 13th–14th century queen of the mewar kingdom in present-day india; the earliest source to mention her is the padmavat, an epic poem written by malik muhammad jayasi in 1540 CE.
in the padmavat, the sultan of delhi, alauddin khalji, laid siege to chittor to obtain padmavati after hearing of her beauty. facing a certain defeat against khalji, she and her companions committed jauhar - self-immolation - to protect their honour and prevent khalji from achieving his desires.

Frida Kahlo was a Mexican painter known for her many portraits, self-portraits, and works inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Her paintings often had strong autobiographical elements and mixed realism with fantasy.
“I paint self-portraits because I am so often alone, because I am the person I know best.”

— it has taken generations, but still, we rise
