“Iam fifty percent absolutely certain.”

As soonas the words left his mouth, Lunafreya narrowed her eyes, scowling. They hadbeen wandering the hot crags of the Disc of Cauthess for nearly three hours,and they were no closer to the Archaean than they had been when they startedthis trek. In hindsight, climbing, or rather, descending mountains in heelswasn’t the brightest of ideas, and Lunafreya considered that it might haveimproved her mood had she took Nyx’s suggestion of wearing something moresuitable for the journey.

“What are you dressing up for? You gonna impressTitan with your stellar wardrobe and pretty face?”

As itwere, she had not, and her patience, as plentiful as it was, was wearing everso thin. The Glaive’s quips most certainly didn’t help her mood.

It alsodidn’t help that the wit reminded her of her groom-to-be, and that put her inan even worse mood. That wasn’t to say she wasn’t thrilled to see him when thetime came in Altissia, but she had her qualms about the situation.

Needlessto say, between the heat from the meteor and her attire rebelling against her,her crankiness was at an all-time high. She stomped her foot on the groundbehind him and he whipped his head around as she set her jaw.

“And Iam one hundred percent unenthused about this! We’ve been lost for hours, NyxUlric. This might be a game to you, but I have to speak to the Archaean atonce. It is-“

“Yeah,yeah. It’s your duty as the Oracle. I got it.” Nyx threw up his arms and sighed.“Trust me, I don’t want to be here anymore than you do, Your Highness, but asis my duty, I have to be here withyou. Now, watch your step. A sprained ankle isn’t my idea of a good souvenir.”

Nyxfluidly spun back around, leading her through another winding trail of fire andbrimstone. If she wasn’t already flush from the heat, she would certainly benow. Enraged and flustered, the princess followed, eyes fixed on the back ofhis stupid head with those stupid braids.

And thenit happened. One false step and the spike of her heel snapped as Lunafreya slid,and she watched in slow motion as the hot rocks grew closer as she fell untilsuddenly she wasn’t. She had barely let a gasp escape her lips before twostrong arms were putting her upright.

“Are youall right?” Nyx’s voice reached her ears and she nodded, still shaken. Therewas a pause between them as though the glaive was planning his next move, thenhe shook his head and sighed.

“Hike upyour dress.”

Perhapsit was the nonchalant way he said it, or that he dared to say it to her at allthat riled her up. Nonetheless, he had, and the tips of Lunafreya’s ears burnedbright red.

“I begyour pardon?!” Her voice cracked as she yelled at him, but Nyx only rolled hiseyes.

“Don’tflatter yourself. You can’t walk on a broken heel, right? Hike up your dressand climb onto my back so I can carry you.”

…Oh.

Hesitantly,she obeyed, and Nyx turned, getting down to his knees and waiting patiently asshe climbed onto his back. It had been a long while since she was thisphysically close to him, since their escape from Insomnia, in fact. Nyx stood,and she wrapped her arms around him tightly as they set off down the path oncemore.

It wasstill hot, even more so now that they were in such close proximity, but likethis, Lunafreya didn’t think she minded so much.
