lore drop ... :)
lore time! / always accepting
grinning sooo widely, thank you for letting me ramble! this is kind of an addendum to my first post about rito as a language — with a focus on spoken rito and rito key because i haven't actually done more than touch on the former and i would like to make slight modifications to the latter. proper capitalisation and everything ahead because these notes will just be c+p from my big web of 'em sfdlkjf:

of course he * really knows what zelda thinks. they'd been inseparable even * before the calamity had struck, and since then even more so ( barring the hundred year crisis where the both of them had given up * everything, of course ). she has the beginnings of guilt hidden in the way her brow furrows at the mere thought that she'd even tried to * lie to link in the first place, turning around with a sorrowful look in her draconic eyes. "it's not ... that. grief is a natural, scientific process that all beings go through - that is a fact. it just ... it * technically happened to me so long ago that i ... don't feel worthy of mourning. it feels like a different * me should be here. not ... "
Link is quiet for a long moment after she trails off. The wind shifts between them, catching the ends of his scarf, stirring pale strands of her hair the only sound as he looks at her the way he always has when she starts retreating into herself; steady and patient, unwilling to let her disappear behind logic and technicalities.
“You think the person who lost everything stopped being you just because time passed.” His gaze softens, and he takes a slow step closer, boots crunching faintly against the dirt. “Zelda… you carried that grief for a hundred years. Even when you were alone. Even when there wasn’t anyone left to see it.” His voice lowers. “That doesn’t make it less real. And it doesn’t mean you missed your chance to mourn.”
He knows that feeling better than most; waking into a life that no longer fit his own memories, walking through ruins people expected him to recognize as home. Sometimes the past felt like it belonged to someone else entirely. Someone stronger. Someone deader. But he’d never looked at her and seen a stranger.
“You’re still the same person who stood in front of the Calamity and refused to let the world end. You’re also the person standing here now. Tired. Hurt. Trying to keep moving anyway.” A faint crease forms between his brows. “And both of them deserve kindness.”
omg are you still doing pigeon stuff i love pigeons what type do you think zelda is
can i send you a shitload of pigeon pics
ask me about pigeons you coward alSO YES SEND ME ALL THE PIGEON PICS
Easy! We're also venturing out of the realm of domestic pigeons, but Zelda is a pink necked green pigeon. They're utterly stunning (though unfortunately most of the pics you find are enhanced/ai; they're gorgeous but some colors don't really exist in nature). They're native to Southeast Asia, and they're frugivores, meaning they subsist almost entirely off of fruit! This makes them enormously important to the local ecosystems as pollinators and seed distributors.
" you're an idiot. " + link.
Ask Meme -- @woevrns
Link liked to think he could usually handle himself in a fight, and that was mostly the case. Except of course when he was attacked from behind while fighting a Lynel, which was only made doubly more complicated by the fact that the second monsters that attacked him was also a Lynel.
He'd just managed to duck out of the way of the downswing of the first monster, when he was suddenly hit from the side by something that, for a wild moment, he thought must have been a bolder. As he tumbled through the air, however, vision spinning and head throbbing like a drum, he caught sight of the second Lynel. Usually the monsters were quite territorial and took pride in facing him in solo combat, but apparently that didn't extend to doing their best to beat him to a pulp.
Link wasn't entirely sure what happened over the course of the rest of the fight. He remembered firing off some arrows, flipping into a flurry rush of swings as his weapons nipped at the sensitive tendons on the lower half of the monsters. All the while, a dull thudding in his side kept him company, a thudding that sharply increased when both monsters finally dissolved into dust and Link slipped down to a knee, just catching himself from face planting.
Managing a half-smile, half-grimace, he shot Zelda a look that he hoped seemed cavalier, fisted hand circling on his chest. << Sorry. >> And he meant it too. It was sloppy of him. He should not have been caught by surprise.
pigeon facts???? whatcha got for me this week
Ask me about Pigeons you Coward
Ooooh okay the reason people joke about "never having seen a baby pigeon" is that A), domestic and feral pigeons are (mostly) descended from rock doves, so they prefer to nest very high up in human made structures (Which are closer to cliffs than trees), and B) pigeons grow up very quickly! It only takes four weeks for them to grow to adult size and flee the nest. You also haven't seen pigeon eggs because they only incubate for two weeks. While I love rats, and dislike the phrase "rats with wings" because it sees either as a derogatory creature, I understand the comparison in this aspect; pigeons do not have a breeding season and can raise an entire clutch in just six weeks. Sometimes the mother will lay a new clutch before the old one has finished growing up (in which case, the father shoulders the first clutch and mom cares for the second).
