I just finished The Dangerous Gift and hot damn do I have a lot of feelings (no spoilers here). This has probably been my favourite series 3 book so far, the emotions, the development, everything is just *chefs kiss*
Damn, The Dangerous Gift was a disappointing book. Spoilers under the read more.
Just, nothing really happened at all? It felt like every character just sort of floated in and out of the story for their moments and then disappeared. There were too many characters so everyone but Snowfall and Jerboa/Boa felt extremely shallow. I really question Tui’s choice to make Snowfall the protagonist. So much of the book was spent taking a character we never had a reason to care about before the book and making her a decent person by the end, only to ditch her again. Why not Luna? Swordtail? Hazel if she wanted the arc of coming into power before the character is ready? Hell, even Bullfrog would have been good since he might actually be plot relevant in the future books. I thoroughly dislike the decision to make humans vital to the plot. I have literally no interest in reading about humans in a book that is largely appealing for being about dragons. Dragonslayer was tolerable as a side book but bringing them into the forefront is an irreversible change to the series as a whole.
From a wof discord I'm in
This is so accurate to the books and I hate it /pos
