I think something that makes the whole “there were no hints” argument for Jax even less relevant to me is that even if there were not a single hint that could point toward her trans-ness, a lot of trans people don’t show identifiable evidence before they ever come out. So many trans people go their whole lives without anyone “catching on” rather that’s a conscious effort from them or otherwise. Completely ignoring the fact there were many signs of Jax being, at the least, not cis, the hypothetical lack of blatant signs would do nothing to disprove her being who she is. If anything the subtleness of her secret leading up to the movie adds the kind of shock that comes with learning someone you care about is transgender, and adds even more to the tragedy of Jax’s abstraction knowing she never was able to fully come out in the first place.

You can say you didn’t pick up the hints, or didn’t interpret them to mean she was trans , but using it as an argument to invalidate that part of her character is just kind of stupid and ignores the complexities of real life queer people’s experiences, not everybody’s transness is obvious. I think there’s something beautiful about that in its self.

I REALLY like the idea that Damien was supposed to say something else (I can't think of anything that isn't goofy or doesn't match his charactor, sorry ToT) but instead blanked on his line, went a little dissociate, and just went with the first thing he thought to say, which was "I'm right behind you aren't I?"

Which, thankfully, Damien was known to do in previous movies. This show just gave him more freedom be his silly self.
