Random idea for Nightwing-Rainwing that can mindread and see the future but only when they nap under direct sunlight
For a while they could think they have just very vivid dreams, then they'd think they can dreamwalk (since their mindreading would mostly reach other sleeping Rainwings) before learning the truth
They'd also be very sleepy afterwards, since their sleep tires them because of their powers. Eating/Drinking any amount of caffeine wouldn't fix it but instead incredibly boost their abilities while asleep. Also their colors wouldn't work as good for not getting enough sleep
The only solution to their condition would be wearing skyfire, so half of their powers is forced to stop working
A sleeping idea/headcannon for DoD I've had for a very long while:
Tsunami sleeps with her eyes open like how fish (kinda) do. Also the "sleep alpha sigma" eye mask was gifted to by Tsunami lmao
Starlight unironically wears it to bed until he grows out of it (both age wise and just growth wise 😭)
SORRY EVERYONE IN MY ATTEMPT OF A REWRITE I MADE STARFLIGHT A MORE "erm actkually!!! 🤓☝️" BERDLY. I'll change it one day... Maybe... ANYWAY-
Also he's based on a starmole as all the Nightwing variants are based on animals that function either in the dark or are nocturnal (maybe bugs but that might be weird since they eat bugs :P idk we'll see)
Here's the poses btw
I'm gonna maybe do some more WOF stuff later today might not since uhh.. ahem... (Hyper fixating on parb kinda, burnt me out??? I might maybe do more parb stuff tho since I have a problem OOO A WOF X TROLLS AU WOULD BE FIRE, just lacking ideas for how that'd go, maybe- OH poppy as a dragon would be kinda fire??? Maybe she'd be a skywing x sandwing hybrid??? SkyxRain(probs not) Branch is high def a Rainwing x Nightwing tho :P. Barb kinda gives Peril vibes so she's prob a Skywing. Or skywing with Rainwing? (Rainwing only being for the venom btw) Anyways-
Allwing but instead of them being a godlike Mary Sue they are a body horror amalgamation that gets tribe dysphoria and ends up disappearing into the distant night fog and becoming a horrible night tale to bad dragonets.
I had a idea where if a Nightwimg hatched on a eclipse... They will have weird eye shaped scales on their body, (& glowing eye patterns under their wings)
I like to call these fellas... Eclipsewings (or Eclipselings in my WoF Universe). They're mainly black but do have some pretty odd colors to them which aren't normally seen in the average nightwing. These guys are EXTREAMLY RARE & are considered a myth (in my universe).
Lunar Eclipsed Nightwings will have a red tint & blue-grey under belly with slight tints of purple at their feet.
Solar Eclipsed Nightwings will have a orange tint with a blue-grey belly with brown tints on their feet.
They however will still have the average eye color of the Nightwing.
This idea has been brought to u by Bubs (Also some credit to my frend NCR aka Galileo on here bcs they have a OC named Light bringer who hatched on a lunar Eclipse & that's why I wrote this. This is more their idea & not mine but I just wanna write it out lol)
It's some more stuff for my Winged and Lizard Tribes idea:
Winged Nightwings are based on bats, and Lizard Nightwings are based on spiders.
Winged Nightwings have large bat ears and wings, I know dragon wings already look like bat wings but this is my au and I can do what I like and you can't stop me. They have good hearing and echolocation, which is helpful on the nightwing island beecause of all the smoke and ash in the air. This trait will most likely go away throughout the generations because it's not as needed in the rainforest.
Lizard Nightwings have large fangs and a type of venom. I thought the idea where the nightwings had some kind of poison in their fangs was cool so I added it into these guys. They have a stinger on their tail that contains the same poison as their fangs.
I don't really know why I made them spiders when they don't have many spider qualities but it's already been done and I'm not changing it.
Now for Rainwings!
Winged Rainwings are based on parrots and other colorful birds, they always come in bright colors and they have feathered wings and tails. I made Winged Skywings birds as well, but Winged Rainwings are different (Skywings are eagles and falcons, the more large threatening birds, and Rainwings are birds that would normally live in the rainforest). They can change color and camouflage, but it physically hurts to do after a short period of time because theyre basicly just dragon-shaped birds. They don't have venom, but they have incredibly sharp claws that can cut through dragon scales almost effortlessly.
Lizard Rainwings are based on chameleons (like the canon ones), they look similar to canon rainwings except they don't have a frill and their eyes are larger and can move separately from each other. And they dont have wings. Beacuse theyre chamelions. ANYWAYS they can hang from their tails easily, and can be upside-down for long periods of time without any ill effects. They have venom, only because the canon plot requires that rainwings have venom. I wouldn't let them have venom if I was let to my own devices but I'm working on working this into the canon plot and I'm too lazy to come up with an alternative.
The tribes im working on now are Icewings and Sandwings, expect a post on them... Soon. Ish. Soonish.
I might start making posts about certain characters for this au, some I'm working on are Kinkajou, Glory, Tsumani, Ruby, Anemone, Clay, Sundew, Peril, Scarlet, and Turtle. Mostly Seawings, Skywings, and Rainwings because those are my favorite for this au.
Everyone knows how every Wings of Fire tribe has its own cool power, right?
Nightwings can see the future and read minds, icewings can breathe frostbreath, rainwings can change their scale color and use magical death spit, sandwings have scorpion tails, mudwings are healed by mud and skywings can store their fire until it reaches a max temperature, but when it comes to seawings, I find their powers pretty traditional.
Seawings can breathe underwater, have glowing scales, night vision and a powerful tail. Overall, pretty basic, in my opinion.
I think it would be cool if seawings could store water and shoot it out of their mouths at scalding temperatures. They are a kind of dragon, and in my opinion, they have to breathe out some kind of substance! And icewing-seawings could shoot out freezing cold water, and skywing-seawings could store up water until it reaches max temperature! So many fun possibilities!
"Turtle, use water gun!"
I can only imagine Tsunami opening her mouth to blast Kestrel in the face with burning water.
So, some time ago I collected data on all canon ages that characters have, tried to correspond them to their "human ages" (which I more or less guessed...) and then made a chart based on that:
X axis is the dragon age, Y is the corresponding human age. So each dot is basically P(dragon_age,guessed_human_age).
You can see that they all group in something resembling a curve, y=sqrt(70x).
It means that to successfully convert from dragon age to human years, you need to apply the formula:
guessed_human_age=8.37×sqrt(dragon_age)
8.37 is the square root of 70
For dragonet ages (0-10, 0-20 in dragon) it's better to use different function:
guessed_human_age=log(1.11)(dragon_age)
It's that bit harder mathematically but better corresponds to younger dragons.
DATA I USED:
(there goes a chance to help- check if you agree with each one, then I could manipulate it a little bit to change the formula and make it more correct to how fandom feels)
0 yrs: Bumblebee that acts like a small baby (1)
1 yr: Cliff, kiddo (3)
2 yrs: Mink, kid (6)
2/3 years: Anemone that imo acts like 9-13 (younger at book 2, older in book 6)
4 years: Moon, like 13-15?, Kinkajou
5 years: Winter (14-16?), Qibli, Turtle
6-7 years: Darkstalker (mentally, he fell asleep at 6) (based on Legends, early twentish, like smart, brilliant 19 yr), DoD (17-20), Sundew, Snowfall, Cricket (16-18?)
8 years: Peril (imo 17-21)
11 years: Indigo and Fathom at epilogue of Legends, adult with kids (twentish...)
32: Blister, mother-queen-experienced adult (27-40?), Blaze is around that age too
40+ Scarlet, I'd give her human 40-60, Burn, Smolder
100+ Tapir, considered old (95)
Interesting things to note while guessing the ages:
Smolder is twice Thorn's age and they have similar mentality. Darkstalker is mentally at Sundew's age. Onyx is at Thorn's age, closer to Coral than DoD and even Deathbringer, still allowed to enter the school.
