Moons headcannon/concepts
So cannon moon powers and fannon moon powers are a bit differnt
Cannon: (i think the any is implied? Moon names arent specified in the main books at least
Any one moon- either mindreading or foresight
Any two moons- both mindreading and foresight
All Three moons- improved mindreading and foresight
The moons are named impereil, oracle, and perspetion.
A common interpretation i see is:
Oracle gives foresight
Perseption gives mindreading
Imperial improves other moon abilites
And when theres multiple moons you get both of those moons affects

But that leaves the question, what does imperial do on its own? Cannonically theres no 3rd nightwing power, and anydragon born under a moon gets one of the two powers.
So my idea is that due to moon cycles, imperial is never the only full moon. It always over laps with the at least others. So imperial never has to be the sole moon affecting a dragon. Or if it is full on its own, its incrediblly rare, to the point that dragons forgot what boon it grants. Maybe, Darkstalkers mention of the previous belief that the moons could give animus magic wasnt so far off.... (maybe imperial being full on its own played a role in the origin of animus magic,, but imp is only full on its own every 10 000 or 1 000 000 years or some other long time)

But you can take it even further: in cannon, 2 moons is always both powers, not sometimes its both powers and sometimes its one boosted power. So maybe, imperial is only ever full when all 3 moons are full, because it cycles through phases so slowly. This is less plausible but honestly i think it sounds cool.
Maybe the fullness of it determines power level, and youd have a cycles, a few hundred years of increasingly powerful nightwings, and then a few hunded where their powers are weak in comparison.
This could also be a cool time keeping thing. Like how humans say in the 60's, they could say "imperials half" or "imperieals cresent"

You could also just say that the moons just give power randonly and which moon it doesnt matter, but thats no fun
