Thera could claim that she didn't mean to tease. There were plenty of times when she actually didn't, when her natural way of a joke or a touch, when simply being herself, at leisure, around their shared lodgings resulted in grey eyes following her, a glint only barely hidden behind. She didn't mind, not especially and in some cases not in the least; coaxing any sort of ease from him was a victory, and that kind most of all.

So there was a great deal of precedent, one she could fall back upon if she were truly so moved. If it wouldn't be a blatantly obvious lie. Another side of the matter was that she had discovered and very definitely learned what did the trick.

Her favourite silk nightgown, hair brushed glossy and free of any braid, bare feet whispering on the rug as she crossed to where Javert sat, pretending to read - not having turned a page for the last several minutes. Fingertips tracing the blade of his jaw, fully expecting he'd meet her halfway as she leaned down for a kiss. "Time for bed?"

(From Wolf!Javert) The day had always passed Javert by as irrelevant. Subconsciously he still saw it that way, in the sense that one day was the same as another, but it would serve as an excuse to artificially change that impression. They could afford to pause for enjoyment even if only an hour or two, both of them being too willing at times just to press on regardless.

He had kept it simple to suit his taste and budget; packed up his spoils in a satchel, then brought it and a proposal to Thera as if in supplication. Even now he half expected rejection of such a silly idea, to take a detour without purpose. One thing he kept to himself- the precise nature of his plan.

"It's a secret- but I'm confident you'll like it. And if not, at least you'll be fed. Is that acceptable?" ------------

One day the same as another. That vague, drifting blend had slipped into her thoughts more often of late - or more accurately, past her guard. An unwelcome situation and potentially a dangerous one, if the lack of attention, interest and verve were to become the norm. An immortal life must be life, not an unmarked and untended toil.

Such it had drifted close to being until she'd caught herself, once again, reminding to breathe and to look around, to find something to enjoy. To look at a calendar, in specific, to a startled surprise at the approaching date.

With faint clue as to whether Javert would also notice, or be spurred to action ... well, there was in fact those small tells of his that said he was up to something, but at least still aware of previous year's warning that he not work himself to the bone. But regardless, a journey from their lodgings to the local stores had ensued, selection not being vast but proving to be enough.

Sufficient, in fact, that the smile greeting his proposal held not only delight but an edge of wicked glee, the kind that hinted at a hidden surprise of her own. "A secret? Mm, sounds wonderful! You know how curious I am!" A chuckle, hands at his waist as she lifted for a peck on the lips. "Let me just collect what I need."

A night in or dinner out?: Dinner out, beyond whatever inn we’re staying at, would seem more special.

What makes you a good Valentine?: I’m honest, I have a sense of humor once you unearth it, and I’d fight for or with you if it came to that.

Would you cook for me?: No.

Would you let me cook for you?: No.

Thera wasn't going to admit that he made her jump. Just a tiny one, more a sudden twitch of her muscles that gave away surprise. Another time such a denial might well be pointless, the truth hardly able to escape his eye. The difference, however, was that at those theoretical 'other times' he would have been awake.

At the first instant she thought he might have been, but the notion was quickly dismissed. The arm around her middle was abrupt, the objecting growl sincere - neither of which he would have permitted himself were he conscious enough to consider.

Thera sighed, also not ... well, she might admit to enjoying the moment, if the chance arrived to tell him so without making him blush. But for now she would also assure him that she was not leaving the warmth of their bed for choice but for necessity. "Gently, mon brave ..." The same lined her voice, soothing, as she caught his hand, pressed it briefly between hers before easing it back so she could slip free.

"I promise I won't be gone long."

⭐️ for a headcanon about our muses. (Whoever takes your fancy!) ------------

For Wolf!Javert: Wherever they happen to spend the night of the full moon, if the curtains are not already heavy enough to block out the light completely Thera will politely request an extra blanket (if there's not one already) and add an extra covering to the window with that.

She trusts Javert to manage the energy (or at least expend it in a mutually pleasurable way!), but she knows he'll be more at ease if he's not seeing the moonlight every time he opens his eyes.

For Sea!Javert: Now that she knows about his guitar, Thera will be eternally curious about hearing him play. She won't ask in case he's embarrassed (because embarrassed = grouchy with him), but if he were to break it out voluntarily she'd be ready to listen (and maybe sing a bit).

For Curly: If she happens to find out he's been having a rough day (or just pining after Laurey harder than usual), she'll call by with something tasty from the hotel kitchens so that he doesn't have to trouble himself over dinner.
