Working Wolf...

My wereside is desperately trying to claw its way out from my human facade now that most of my time and energy is spent working (like a normal, boring human). Granted, I work at a pet store - which definitely helps me stay connected to the animal part of me - but it's still a mask I put on when surrounded by humans with the intent of positively representing the company. But since starting this job, I've noticed that almost every time I leave the house for work, I involuntarily sweep my hand behind me as if to grab my tail....

A phantom tail I check to ensure is behind me, whether for reassurance that it's there, or that it's not, makes itself intensely known, reminding me that as much as I try to pretend to be a normal human dude, the wolf lies within. It's almost a habit now: get dressed, grab my phone, wallet and chapstick, put the dog in her crate, walk out the door, check for my tail, get in the car and go to work.

A wolf works at a pet store, a wolf cashes customers out at a register, a wolf puts away product and mists the reptiles at night, a wolf nets and bags all kinds of fish in the aquatics department. And no one is the wiser that he is a wolf because he has a human face and speaks with a human voice.
