5: How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
Maine’s natural state is distrust. New Hampshire likes to give the benefit of the doubt, but easily loses trust in people. Vermont is the hardest, but he’ll never make the same mistake twice!
22: How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
Maine: Angry from a distance. She’ll growl to herself and glare, but won’t approach unless physical contact is made. Then she’ll gladly storm over and force herself between the two.
NH: Covers it up with false enjoyment. Makes the person squirm. Get’s really touchy, wrapping an arm around their SO. Drags away for cuddles
Vermont: Rarely gets jealous, but is similar to NH.
*If all else fails for them, they will literally pick up their SO and carry them away.*
B: What inspired you to create them?
Oh man, this takes me back. I was looking at Hetalia OCs back YEARS ago (Like, 4ish years or more okay I was in High School still) and the few ‘Maine’ ones I saw were AWFUL. Like, barely any research done; One had a chainsaw and apparently terrified Texas somehow?????? And Maine is my home state, so I was a bit offended to be perfectly honest. They didn’t even use our stereotypes. No plaid, no outdoorsy-ness, lobster love was more joking, ect. Well, then I made Mack, who then had an RP blog dedicated to her, and it spiraled into several states, not just NE. I decided to revamp them after getting back into the fandom and make them more fitting.
TLDR; Pure Spite.
Fun fact: Maine is full of spiteful people (No, seriously, look up the Aroostook War. Maine technically declared war on a nation on their own. We’re mean fuckers.) And I am 100% one of them
