Severus was a brilliant potion maker, even as a student they’d been distinguished as such. The ability to brew Wolfsbane Potion, an advanced potion early in their academic career had been just one more straw to add to their hat that distinguished them. In truth they were always particularly capable when dealing with most things. Clever to a fault, observant beyond what they needed to be, Severus saw things that would have gotten past many students and professors alike. That was how the relationship between Severus and Remus had begun. It could have gone badly, approaching Lupin, James’ friend and offering to help him. Severus knew it was risky and yet at the same time they didn’t want to risk seeing something happen to the other student or worse to any other students... except maybe Potter, Black or Pettigrew. (to hell with all three of them) For the majority of their years at Hogwarts Severus helped Remus by brewing Wolfsbane potion. This was done without the knowledge of the rest of the ‘marauders.’
Upon graduation Severus still did the same thing that they always had. Things weren’t easy, had only gotten more difficult lately if truth were to be told. The two were on different sides of the ‘game’ now and that meant sneaking around put so much more at stake. Things that Severus wasn’t certain they were willing to do. For the past month they’d been working during off time on brewing extra Wolfsbane potion to get Remus through a considerable amount of time. At least until they were able to meet up again. It was hard enough getting away without notice. Traveling all the way back towards Hogsmeade, the bloody Shrieking Shack of all damn places. They felt like they were 13 again and attempting to sneak away with someone for a quiet moment. (clearly that had never happened with Severus, but they heard people talk)
❝ This is not the ideal place to meet, but I believe that being caught by either Potter or one of Malfoy and his... friends would be far less desirable. ❞ Reaching down to the case next to them Severus held the entire bag out to Remus. ❝ I believe there’s enough here to get you through for at least seven months. Maybe more. Maybe less. I’m not completely certain. ❞ They were certain. It was seven months, eight actually because there was one buffer so that Severus had a month to brew more potions for Remus. ❝ If you need something before then... You’ll have to be creative in getting in contact with me. ❞ Severus didn’t allow anyone to know where they lived. It was a rule of theirs. Made them feel a little safer at night.
