1. What does their bedroom look like?
Jake– Jake’s bedroom is small but cozy, with an efficient use of space. It doesn’t really qualify as a room, technically–it’s open to the sitting room, with a large archway instead of a door. The exterior wall is unfinished brick, with big, paned windows. His furnishings are neutral in every sense of the word. Tonal greys and taupes dominate the color scheme, with a few hits of white and charcoal to mix things up. Somewhat surprisingly, the decor is not particularly masculine. He has plain bedding, abstract-patterned drapes, and a long, skinny table that serves as a desk and bed stand.
Katie– Katie has two bedrooms that she considers “hers,” although neither of them are where she spent the majority of her time before her adult life. At the villa, her bedroom is light and airy. She has a wall of double doors, which are almost always open. A huge four poster with gauzy drapes dominates the space. The floor is stone tile, the walls plaster, the ceiling wood beams. At her flat, she has hung the walls with poster prints of her favorite artwork. She’s brought her quilt from home, the one her àvia made her when she was young. It’s a bit quirkier, a bit less rich, but she loves that it’s completely hers.
Sirius– Sirius’ bedroom is basically barren. He’s got a bed and a dresser, but not much else. His whole flat is very utilitarian in terms of furnishings. The only real interest comes from his hundreds of mementos. Insignificant things, mostly, but Sirius is a bit of a hoarder. If an item has even the slightest emotional significance, he keeps it. Every quill he used on his OWLs and NEWTs. The first six (failed) versions of the map. A daisy chain Peter made him. They take up almost every available surface in his flat.
6. Eating habits and sample daily menu
Sirius– Sirius eats absolutely terribly. He’s got the metabolism of a hyperactive nine-year-old and can shovel whatever he wants into his mouth with zero consequences. He bounces between forgetting to eat and snacking constantly. He drinks coffee every morning–tons of cream and two sugars (because people who drink it black obviously aren’t secure enough in themselves to admit that it tastes awful, and he’s never had that problem thank you very much). Usually toast for breakfast. He hates eating alone, so he either eats out or drops in on one of the marauders.
11. Intellectual pursuits?
Sirius– Sirius is incredibly smart and succeeded in school with little effort. His favorite subjects were always Charms and Astronomy–if he hadn’t grown up with a war on, he’d almost certainly have pursued charms as a living. Something where he got to be around people, to help them. The stars are the one Black legacy he can’t quite bring himself to reject–perhaps because they were always the one he actually enjoyed. Astronomy reminded him of the few bright spots in his childhood–stargazing with Regulus, losing himself in something beyond their cloistered existence.
Sirius– Sirius loves muggle crime novels. The trashier and more predictable the better. He’s also got quite a taste for science fiction, though not nearly as much for fantasy (perhaps because it’s his reality and the muggles simply get it all wrong).
31. Most prized possession?
Jake– Other than the boat, Jake hasn’t ever put much stock in physical things. He has a first edition Yeat’s collection he loves, an antique fountain pen. Rose’s ring, when it still sat in the back of his drawer instead of hanging around her neck. What they all have in common is that he loves things with history, with a story to tell.
Katie– Katie’s grandmother made her a quilt when she was young, for her room at the beach house. After she stayed with them following her sisters’ deaths, she couldn’t sleep without it. Leaving it behind when she came to Hogwarts was one of the hardest things she’s had to do.
35. What activities do they enjoy, but consider to be a waste of time?
Jake– Muggle game shows. Pretty self explanatory, really.
Katie– Katie doesn’t really see things she likes as a waste of time. If she enjoys it, the time is well used.
36. What makes them feel guilty?
Jake– Lashing out at Rose. Failing Lily.
Katie– Lashing out at Rose. Indulging her pride. Being so angry at her mother for so many years.
39. What recharges them when they’re feeling drained?
Katie– Spending time on the water, particularly the beach house. Being outside, period. Taking Gazi out for a gallop. Sprinting as hard as she can for as long as she can. Drawing and coloring.
