This is an idea for a mashup I had for quite a while and I finally got around to it! Enjoy! :)
Inspired by @hello-em75‘s post It’s hard to believe that it’ll be almost 9 years since I first encountred the unlikely Viking and his Night Fury. I told this story various times, but one more on this new blog won’t hurt, I guess. My first exposure to HTTYD was through one of the trailers for the first movie and... I wasn’t impressed. Surprised? Well, that’s how it went. It looked like a generic kids movie with all the traditional kids movies tropes, so I didn’t dedicate much thought to it. If only someone told me how big a part of my life this franchise was going to be, I would tie that person to a mast and sail him off for a fear he’s gone mad! Then, by complete accident, I saw how well the movie reviewed and my curiousity picked. I bought a ticket, put on the really unconftrable 3D glasses the theater had at the time and... My mind was blown.
I knew this story, I knew these characters, but something here was different. The animation, the flight scenes, the honesty, the characters, the pacing, everything about this movie was just so good! I even tried looking for flaws, but I couldn’t find any! This has been one of the biggest surprises of my life, and one of the biggest turning points for it, I guess. I watched all the shorts, the TV show and obviously the second movie(Which I personally love even more than the first). Hell, I went to see HTTYD 2 in theaters 4 times! 4! It’s rare I go to see a movie twice! Around the time of the show though, I started getting more into the fandom through FanFictions. I wrote quite a few HTTYD FanFics, which were well-recived, and these helped me improve my writing. I edited quite a few music videos for HTTYD(One of them is the one linked here) which helped me improve my editing and timing. I wrote my first ever college paper on HTTYD which I recived a perfect score for, and I’m currently polishing my next big eassy about the franchise. But I think the biggest thing I could talk about is obviously, The Berkcast. My How to Train Your Dragon podcast which has been around for a bit over 2 years and reaching 100 episodes. Talking about this franchise every week has been, and still is, a blast! But I also met a lot of great people through that podcast who I can honestly say became really good friends! Either my co-hosts @berkcastrush, @demonwolf002 and Voayger, or the many guests like @kingofthewilderwest, @wolfie-dragon-rider, @leffiesart, @twiggy242, @rift-raft-writes, @astridthevalkyrie, @icelandiceel, of course @hello-em75 and so many more through the Discord server. I would have never met those people if it weren’t for HTTYD, and I could never thank this franchise enough for it! So just to close this long thing up, Thank You How to Train Your Dragon! Can’t wait for The Hidden World! I’m also putting here the latest HTTYD music video I made which celebrates the friendship of a life time, so enjoy that!
