Day 14 - Cascadia
There are places in the World, that exist outside the typical confines of time and space…places that seem to permeate an energy uniquely their own…
Rising, a vibrant excitement for the evening abound, the hurried consumption of caffeine, again takes place.
As the day starts it’s course, guests arrive to the property, some kindly introducing themselves, while others shyly stare at the forest floor.
The Eddas speak of the how the Earth was fashioned from the body of Ymir, his bones becoming the mountains and hills lending contrast to the seas and rivers created with his blood.
Death of a proto-god, birthing the World anew, destruction, a means of profound creation.
The Hornsmith, Rekkr, Cody, and I set out to build a circle of division around the Harugaz(Altar), seeking large volcanic rocks populating the landscape, spewed out in some long forgotten event of cataclysmic might.
As the compacted minerals were extracted, my mind drifted to the creation of Midgard, and the primordial void of Ginnungagap. The labor, exhausting, stimulating. I saw bones of ancients emerge from soil, placed round a pilar of stone to stand testament of an age only now breaking dawn.
Light fades, the stage set.
Mid day Rekkr led us to a small stretch of creek running under a bridge, where we did our best to wash up before the evening.
The Wind stirred groans from the lanky trees, the scents of wormwood and incense filling both nostril and headspace, ecstatic madness growing.
This place, a purpose built anomaly, amongst an empire of decay.
Our primordial howling, this moment out of time and space.
Leaves of the evening turned from ritual to sumbel, and again words of power and praise were spoken. Olfnir, Patriarch of Cascadian chapter, gifted each in our company a magnificent patch, displaying a longboat crossing the ocean under cover of darkness, the magical stave Vegvísir hanging overhead.
The night thundered on, stories of travel and travesty were shared and strong drink passed round, until at last the many became the few, and sleep again called home.
