my aunty has been dealing with some health challenges (who hasn’t honestly?) so I made her a reparative food guide. Sharing it here for anyone looking to repair digestive function & eat more whole foods.
My body doesn’t do well with too many miscellaneous vitamins and powders so the key for me to get enough calcium, iron, and folate daily has been to make pesto. I blanch a bunch of kale or collards in boiling water for 2 mins, then strain and set aside. To the food processor I’m adding a handful of parsley, basil, or cilantro and scallions and a generous amount of ghee and a pinch of salt PLUS the blanched greens. Blend and it goes great with pasta and over proteins (fish, beef, chicken etc.). I also like to use it as a dip for sweet potatoes or cassava. Sometimes I add soaked/sprouted nuts or hemp seeds to the pesto, but I typically like to make a big batch that’s versatile and iont want nuts in everything. This mix is also really high in vitamin c. It’s simple, easy to make, and it’s really flavorful. I noticed a good difference in the way my body felt on it pretty instantly (clearer skin and minty breath 👌🏿✨). The calcium in the greens should also make a big difference in cramps so we’ll see
I want to make more of an effort to create the kind of world I want to live in which means creating the kind of communities that support me in thriving. I’ve started 2 Substack letters to begin to give some of the things I am most passionate about more space:
(1)The Onwa Collective Summer Art Studio on Substack is a creative studio focused on releasing limiting stories. It’s an opportunity to come together with community and share your art and release limiting beliefs through engaging your creativity. There’s a big push toward meditation and talk therapy as the “fix” for mental health, but I’ve always felt like leaning into what our ancestors did is a lot more fruitful: creating art in community. This is an art class for your inner child that runs June-August on Substack. If you’re feeling creatively stagnant, tired of coming online to doom scroll, or just like you want to move energy in a different way, this is an opportunity for you. You can read the first post and sign up HERE. I’ll be sending out the next letter Friday 7/11/25 so join now to receive it!
(2)I’m also starting a series of womb wealth letters on Substack. This is a series where I share my experience balancing and maintaining hormonal health. There’s so much noise online about health it can be challenging to know where to start. My intention is to share practices that are simple, accessible, and affordable, and promote hormonal health and longevity. I’ll be sharing personal stories and remedies with the intention of empowering others to find what uniquely works for them. Sign up for that HERE.
Feel free to let me know if you have questions or topics you’re interested in hearing more about.
I love this video and her analysis sm and honestly? This energy is what I thought it would feel like to be in a PhD program in Miami
