@physicsonpointe ・・・ I’m often asked how I swap brains 🧠 when jumping btwn physics 🔬 and dance 💃🏻 (definitely wish I had more than one brain but alas just have 1!). I hope this mentality changes bc it’s silly to categorise people as having either creative or analytic brains -both are required for #science and #art in a big way! I’m constantly in awe of the creativity of fellow scientists and the entrepreneurial/analytic side of my fellow dance colleagues . . @physicsonpointe is a physicist and professional ballet dancer. Merritt studied physics in undergrad at Harvard University and graduated with a PhD in Atomic and Laser Physics from the University of Oxford. She danced with a number of ballet companies throughout her studies. For her PhD studies, her research focused on the field of quantum optics. She built a single photon source and generated, characterized, and utilized quantum states with up to eight photons! Here she is seen at her lab in the University of Oxford. . . . . . #womendoingscience #womeninstem #physics #optics #womenwhoscience #scicomm #research #photonics #womeninphysics #womenintech #harvard #oxford #engineerlife #scienceresearch #scientistswhoselfie #scientistlife #techgirl #girlswhobuild #girlsinscience #girlsintech (at San Francisco, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BpYt-Knnu41/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=kxvo9vhz7dhm
