Four years ago if you told me I would be attending national conferences presenting scientific research that I conducted I would not have believed you. The girl I was then lacked confidence in herself and was absolutely terrified if people noticed her work. There were many occasions that I believed I was not smart enough to even go to college. Today I am so much stronger and more confident than I imagined I could ever be. My hard work and determination has quite literally taken me around the world and will hopefully be sending me off to graduate school in the future. Not only have I noticed my change in self confidence, but other people have as well. At #AAG I had people ask me if I was a Master's or PhD student presenting my research, and I had to tell them that I was only an undergraduate. I was also encouraged by many to further my education beyond my bachelor's degree. I'm so incredibly lucky to have the best support system in my friends, mentors, and family that have been cheering me on since the beginning and continue to do so. So not only is this accomplishment for me, but it is also for everyone who has encouraged me, and to everyone that ever doubted my abilities and intelligence to take me places. . . . . . #womendoingthings #fluvialgeomorphology #womeninSTEM #geographers #geography (at John B.
