For the women out there, have you ever done a women’s circle? If so, how did you like it? “In the circle, we are all equal. There is no one in front of you and there is no one behind you. No one is above you; no one is below you. The circle is sacred because it is designed to create unity.” ~Lakota Wisdom Growing up learning about my Native American heritage was so important to me. Part of that process was going through a rights of passage. That journey gave me an environment surrounded by women — amazing female mentors! They taught me the importance of women gathering and coming together in circle. For so many years I kept looking for elders to recreate this beautiful process. What I came to realize was that if I wanted the structure, the ceremony, the ways which I learned them, and to honor the women of my past, I needed create gathering, not wait for another to do so. Monday’s full moon even was the start of this process. Every month I will be gathering with women, offering insight, guidance, tools, and structure to support them in experience what I was so lucky to experience from quite a young age.
