Chapter 2 Part 1 Uploaded

Hey, people, hope you're all okay!

So, as I mentioned earlier this week on tumblr, I managed to finish leaving the first part of chapter 2 as polished as possible to upload it! I was going to do it saturday, but I couldn't help myself.

Please, warn of any bugs you find. I made my best to find those, but something may have passed me by.

What this update entails:

- The first part of Chapter 2

- Meeting the RO, Cosmos or Gehfeer, and interacting with them

- Participating in something big in the Academy of Necromancy and getting a taste of how your abilities will be used.

​- Vocabulary coded in a new, easier way

- Some Codex available

It's recommended you replay from the start, because I improved some instances of coding, so you'll avoid any bugs because of these changes.

It's been a while since I've binge read my Doctor Strange comics so idk if I'm remembering it correctly, but afaik Wong is a lady's man in the comics??? So now I headcanon that MCU Mordo and Wong are Kamar-Taj's official heartbreakers of dudes and ladies respectively. Wong seems like the kind of guy that knows what to say to make those panties drop in less than a second, and Mordo has those doe-eyes that oh man...

Oh great Nonny, now I’m imagining them having tea together while quietly talking about their respective love lives. For the sake of strordo, Wong’s trying to talk Karl out of it cause he can obviously do so much better. Karl’s way too deep in love to care. Meanwhile there’s a line of very aggravated men mean mugging Stephen out of jealousy and the poor guy has no idea why XD *drools at delicious image*

Karl’s doe eyes killed me several times already. I don’t know how Stephen could survive. 

Also…Wong man. Wong needs more love. He deserves all the love.

Devlog 22 - 17/03/2025

Hello, everyone!

Hope you all have been enjoying the update!

As for the event 2 for the Undead, writing has been slow, but happening. At the moment I'm coding and writing some variations of choices and some flavor text according to some abilities and personality traits. Still only codding some and letting to properly write the variation later, so I can go back to write the main points of the event in itself.

Won't lie, it's a part of writing that EATS AWAY the time and it's hard to see the evolution happening, specially with how some of these amount to a few lines only by variation, but when reading makes a whole world of difference. They're the variations that imply and show how Cosmos (at the moment and then Gehfeer when I start to work on the Necromancer side) reacts and feel, and that show and share some of the information that you can know or things you can do, based on your abilities.

Since it's still the beginning, most of it is still mostly narrative, but as the story progress, the plan is that certain abilities and personality traits and even the relationship with the RO will make certain choices available or block off certain choices. And not only choices related to the relationship: knowing enough the RO (not exactly friendship) may allow you to know better their abilities and, as such, be able to ask for help (if RO will help is another question lol)

At the moment, Chap2 Event 2 for the Undead has around 6k words, in between code and prose. Not a big evolution compared to the last time I was able to give numbers, but still I'm happy with such and with how it's coming together.

Devlog 21 - 17/01/2025

Hello, everyone!

Happy 2025 to all of you that, like me, commemorated a new year recently!

So, first of all, sorry for not uploading anything in December. I had some more scares from my computer and until I discovered that the power unit is just finicky and don't like powering too many 3'5" HDD and prefer the slim ones usually used in notebooks, I was at my wits end (that's what you get for changing motherboard and sticking more HDDs at the same time back before all the problems started without stopping to think if it's safe. I'm half convinced that half of my troubles stemmed from this. ANYWAY).

I ended up deciding to focus only on writing WOMG during my end of the year travels and so on, specially because usually I end up with not that stable of a connection when I travel. The twist is that I changed my travel pen-drive from my old and very trusty one to a newer but bigger one but I was unlucky and bought a very low-quality one that ended up with trouble and I lost everything in it (It was still in the store guarantee and once I returned I went there and returned and got a new one from a more trusty brand). Meaning, my Big Plans of Writing A Lot for WOMG were shot. And the online backup was outdated (I use more offline backups), and my brain is too chronological for me to write out of order ç_ç So, I could only really write again once back home.

On the bright side, I was so damn annoyed at it that I decided "fuck it, I'm uploading the first part of the chapter 2 to Itch once I return". So YEAH! I'm just making sure there aren't any game-breaking bugs in this part, fixing some of the code responsible for showing your stats and so on, and probably February I'll be updating it. If all goes well, writing for the second part will also progress well this following month.

Just to warn that the Devlog will probably come out tomorrow or Sunday.

It was going to come out today, after I got up to some more writing in it, but my 1TB HDD is acting up and I'm doing a bunch of checkups and backups on it, so no writing and such. It's the one with the most recent files for Walking on My Grave

Thoughts with me so I'll manage to fix it up. I have WOMG backups, including recent ones and of everything else, but still there are some recent files I would lose if the HDD gives up. I don't think it will, I can access it fine, but it's slow and some folders and archives are lagging and there were some errors when I tried to exclude some things I don't need anymore. Probably I'll just end up having to backup the most recent files and formatting it, but it still put a stop on my plans.

Anyway, have a good weekend!

Devlog 18 - 19/08/2024

Hello, everyone!

Sorry for the time it took for this Devlog. Yesterday I had the test that was supposed to happen in May, and as a result the end of July and start of August I was pretty much... Even more of a mess regarding writing and everything. That's why this Devlog is being published today.

Still, I managed to write some of Walking on My Grave and some worldbuilding details that are behind the scenes. The Event 2 for Chapter 2 for the Undead sits at 3k words, with a bunch of variation and code that I'll have to add later - mainly the variations regarding choices and interactions of the Undead with Cosmos.

In the writing itself, I tried to focus more on the overall narrative, which is important: the Event starts at another Academy, so I need to set the tone right for how different it looks from the Academy of Necromancy; at the same time, some other items of the hybrid technology Bravo has developed appear. I'll probably keep writing this way, focusing on narrative and bigger variations and marking the places with more nitpicky variations for later; those are the most draining to write, because of the considerations of the code behind for personality, abilities and such and how these can influence in both happenings and narrative.

Walking On My Grave - Demo Launch

It's already past midnight and Friday 30th of June, where I live, what does this mean?

That's right, TIME FOR THE FIRST CHAPTER TO FINALLY BECOME AVAILABLE TO YOU ALL! (I couldn't wait anymore to share it xD)

It is with great pleasure and happiness that I announce that the demo for "Walking On My Grave" is live on Itch, with the first chapter, "Electricity and Honey", uploaded (and hopefully more chapters soon). The chapter has, including both paths,code, and variations regarding abilities and personality traits, 36.4k words. For the Undead, the total sits at 17.7k, with 18.7k for the Necromancer. 

In the first chapter, you will:

Choose to play as the Necromancer or the Undead

Name your character and define their appearance and their pronoun

Meet people that are and will be important in your life.

As the Undead, understand better this second-life, its duties and risks, and be officially welcomed into it.

As the Necromancer, be present for the Vesselling of a relative and breath in the traditions of your people.

Have access to a short vocabulary, updated alongside chapters, of specific terms and words as they appear.

The demo will be updated as new chapters are written. The whole game, once written, will remain free. Maybe in the future, as the game is update and so on, I'll activate for donations if one desires to do so, if I manage to set up Paypal and such (I've never had need of it before, so yeah... lol)

Please, warn me of any bugs or typos you find, be through the comments in Itch or here, through asks, whatever means suit you :) Specially typos and such, because I did my best to review grammar and related things, but English is still not my first language, so it's easy for something to pass me by.

Also, I haven't had the opportunity of truly testing it on mobile, so that's why I haven't put android as an availability on itch. If you do try it on mobile-android, please let me know your impressions and everything else about it, I'll try to improve the UI for it as I learn more the code side of things :D.

AND, about the Spotify Playlist: it will be updated alongside chapters, with songs that I judged hit the right mood for it.
